What would Superhero do if they accidentally kill somebody who isn't villain?

What would any Superhero do if they accidentally killed civilians or their friends/family members by their collateral damage or any other flawed choice from their part of stopping villains?

What's the context? Remember, it is the villain who usually initiates the conflict. Thpe super is just trying to stop him.

Any manslaughter charges can usually be laid at the feet of the villain.

This is usually handwaved away even if it would be in-character for a superhero to accept all responsibility. Because the story would end there otherwise...

In-universe, it can be explained that authorities aren't willing to deal with this and would either overlook the case or pardon the hero, rather than dealing with anything that involves constant conflict between superheroes and supervillains.

Yeah. What are you going to do? Sue superman for stopping some alien supervillain?

You wouldn't be suing him. You'll be shell-shocked at the idea that yes, aliens exist. And they hate us.

You won't be shocked aliens exist because, in DC universe, you get an alien invasion every year or so. And you have few aliens living on Earth too. And you can certainly sue Superman for damages, and he may even accept responsibility as he is a good guy (unless you are in a DC AU where he isn't), but even then, you are much better off simply ignoring the stuff.

villain trick superhero into killing their friend like Mysterio did to old man logan.

Pretend it never happened, naturally.

"What!" No! I never kill, you must be wrong! Right, Batman? We never kill!"
