What is Nazi ideology, politics, philosophy in the Third Reich and beyond

Nazism could be given a second chance. I mean if we target hate and bigotory instead of other ethnic groups, what could go wrong?

Gaze long into the abyss and the abyss gazes back. And remember, those who hunt monsters should take care that they themselves do not turn into monsters.

I've learned recently that only evil people can fall for this rhetoric actually.
Not quite. The first point, and last three, are pretty big tells that a person is off in priorities, but most of the points, and second to last, very much speak to Weimar-era loss of faith in government, a feeling the government is "too weak" and doesn't care about them. What do you think proper Socialists think of that opinion? Even among the worst points, it's often in the details of the rhetoric that innate problems arise. A government caring about its people over those it doesn't govern is perfectly innocuous, on the surface, but then the expansionism kicks in.

Don't kid yourself that people actually normally care about total strangers. The modern open-border globalists are utterly absurd by every historic standard, and prove to be absurd in modern contexts as well many times a tourist is just gone. Actually caring about the global poor? Yeah, the Irish Potato Famine got so bad because "the free market will deal with it" was in full swing. The current bulk of pseudo-mercantilists aren't nearly as bad as to reject charity, because even they recognize Capitalism doesn't fix every problem of resource access. They do still go too far.

It's actually kinda hard explaining Nazi philosophy in its original form without also going on a long tangent regarding European occultism during that time period, Theosophy in particular. That's where a lot of their ideas on what "Aryan" meant came from, as it was more complex than simple racism (although just as stupid and vile).

Also, @Morphile, are you honestly going to repeat the PRATT of "but the Nazis were socialists?".

Ravans on point here, but another factor that needs to be mentioned is that our modern political compass was developed during the cold war when the two competing ideologies were Communism and Capitalism, it was only natural that the tool we use to map political stances would portray the ideological divide separating the Super Powers.

Nazism on the otherhand lost its relevance as an ideology after the Holocaust was revealed and the two mentioned Super Powers kicked it's teeth in.

So we're not even operating on the same political paradigm as 1930s germany.

Nazism was very much anti-socialist/communist. But the opposite of that isn't Libertarianism like Morphile seems to imply. The opposite of Communism is Corporatism, where the business is PART of the government, and this was very much a part of Nazi politics. Capitalism and Authoritarianism are not opposites. It just depends on WHO is in charge.

What kind of occultism and how did it affect politics?

The founders of the party (preHitler ones included) were deeply involved in it, as were the leadership of the SS. The main branches in particular were Theosophy and Ariosophy/Armanism. There's actually been a number of decent documentaries on the subject. But just as an example, Himmler though that he was the reincarntion of an ancient king, that the Norse gods were actually the extraterrestrial ancestors of the aryan race, and that mjolnir was an alien superweapon of unknown type. Their belief that they were different from other races extended to the point of claiming offworld origins.

Nazism and socialism are so laughably not the same thing I don't think it could possibly be overstated even in fractal/singularity scales...

They pretty much posted a bunch of stuff about "rebuilding the infra", which I guess counts as socialist if you're thinking gov intervention = socialist in their original manifesto to get votes and then killed all the actual socialists after, ie knight of the long knives.

Corporatism was an ideology popular among Spanish and Italian fascists where class collaboration rather than class war was proposed. The came comes from the root, 'corp' e.g. marine corps, meaning a group of people. It doesn't really mean rule by corporations and the literal self described fascists would probably not allow the capitalist cyber-punk rule by corporations that most people imagine the term to mean to come about.

The problem people tend to have in understanding fascism/Nazism is that they try to place it on a spectrum between capitalist liberal democracy and socialist command economy. Fascism was simply not as concerned with the problems that the comparatively materialistic ideologies of capitalism and communism. The way fascism/Nazism is talked about in this thread is like a conversation about theocracies by people who don't understand that theocracies believed in a god.

P.S. every conversation on this topic on SB and related sites is pretty much exactly the same and you are all brainelt NPCs
