The latest right-wing attack on Democrats: 'They want to take away your hamburgers'

Who could ever imagine that this would be a real thing in 2019. At the CPAC convention, Mark Meadows, Ted Cruz, Sebastian Gorka and others were warning the crowd that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to take away their cows. One man on the stage said "I have a lot of cows and nobody is taking away my cows!" This is like a massive mind bending and brainwashing.

The latest right-wing attack on Democrats: 'They want to take away your hamburgers'
According to the latest attack line launched by some conservatives, supporters of the Green New Deal are waging war against one of our noblest and most treasured national institutions: the hamburger.

"They want to take your pickup truck. They want to rebuild your home. They want to take away your hamburgers," former White House aide Sebastian Gorka declared at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday. "This is what Stalin dreamt about but never achieved."

================================================== ==================

The right has abandoned Nancy Pelosi as their primary punching bag, replacing her with the 'punching bag rising star', Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Conservatives can't stop themselves, they're absolutely obsessed with AOC. My favorite comment came from Sebastian Gorka: Sebastian Gorka, he mocked her Green New Deal. "Remember this one, use it," he said. "It's a watermelon: green on the outside, deep deep communist red on the inside."

As a democrat, I have no intention of taking anyone's hamburger. Unless it looks really good and you aren't looking. ;)

Yessss. Let New Zealand dominate the cattle market....

Let grass fed Angus beef and organic milk put those cowboys out of work.

Looking at the obesity figures America would benefit from eating less fastfood... ;)

Excusez-moi, Herr Yesman, but do zie have the proper permit for your Angus beef to follow ze EU regulations, oui ?

Ha, another round of American political drama, always fun to watch from a save distance across the pond.

But Gorka's hyperbole — which was met with chants of "U-S-A! U-S-A!" — demonstrated how Republicans have turned environmentalists' recommendations to eat less meat into an all-out culture war in which nothing less than American freedom is at stake.

Wait. This sounds disturbingly familiar.

The very same thing happened five years ago in Germany. (The Green Party wanted to introduce a "veggie day", a single day a week were public canteens were supposed to serve vegetarian food only - starting an avalanche of outrage, bullshit calls for freedom, etc.)

...suprised it was AOC, not Tulsi they aimed it at.

Tulsi is not dangerous, she doesn't have a chance to rise any higher than she already is. AOC on the other hand is just beginnig and could get very far.

Dangerously Deranged, maybe.
Hm, I can see how this document wouldn't go over well in the US (thanks for the link). But it's a good starting point for a debate about what's necessary and what's possible. I think it's good that somebody is ambitious and idealistic, the cynical US politics needs people like that (even though they won't get even 20% of what they want). JFK was ambitious and idealistic (to a lesser extent than AOC, of course) and he was a great president and a good man.

Bruh, The Great Leap Forward killed less people than this plan would.

That's not counting what it would do to the rest of the world.
When the US sneezes, the rest lf the world catches a cold, when the US gets Mono, the rest of the world gets Ebola.

Beijing will be gentle enough to make the US looks like it is still needed after The Takeover. As long as the local administrators keep listening to the advice offered by the Imperial Coordinator for the North American Periphery Region, that is.

The rest of the world would literally be on fire without the US economy & military around to babysit y'all.

Of course. Of course. Now, please walk away because the representative from Beijing will 'advise' your local administrators on what to do and what to buy. If you lot are good boys, then the Middle Empire will grace you with a few more jobs to provide some products.

It always shocks me the number of people who bash the US will also at the same time throw a shitfit if the suggestion we pull our military back from being the world police is ever heard.
Lol. I would welcome the US pulling back from fucking up half the planet. There aren't pirate submarines and missiles cruisers out there justifying your spending.

There's various documents floating around the web, as a bunch of people are behind the GND and not all of them are AOC. But yeh that's the main one up for debate.

One concern I do have is that the original new deal was done in the depression, this thing isn't. The economy is clearly very close to almost full capacity based on the very low unemployment rate, some of the more extreme proposals include things like "20 MILLION JOBS", that's...not a super good idea. Firstly you'll have the massive amounts of deficit spending, which will create inflation in the long run due to the way bond markets work, the second issue is, if there is excess jobs and nobody to fill them...what's going to happen to prices and wages? They go up and up and up...

Ok, so we now have two factors pushing up prices and that means you'll get a X^2 type of function from that, owch. Normally if fiscal policy goes astray like that the Fed would cut in and raise interest rates to slow things down, this means people and businesses might get hit as a result, but the overall effect would be that things would return to some type of equilibrium and the economy wouldn't be overheated anymore...but Bernie and other progressives don't support that, they have spoken out against raising interest rates, they've joined forces with goddamn Ron Paul in his Audit The Fed shit, they've hired economic advisers that are AGAINST Central Bank Independence. They don't want that type of policy because it's damaging to businesses in the short run, even though it's even worse in the long run.

Another issue is that the political system in America is ugly, raising taxes is unpopular and paying for stuff isn't, so it's likely this will be funded by expansionary deficit spending and not taxes.

And inflation skyrockets, it gets higher and higher, but due to the nature of inflation, it only becomes obvious once it's legitimately high, think like 10%+. And what happens when it really starts to get noticed? Prices rise faster in order to bypass it and then things start spinning out of control, really out of control. This gets worse and worse the higher it gets, meaning we're looking at exponential inflation at this point.

Do we have evidence for these theories? We do in fact, the excess government spending caused by the Vietnam War basically created a large amount of inflation, that wasn't exactly noticed until the OPEC Supply Shocks hit and turned up that inflation even higher. As for the herding behaviour and expectations driving up inflation, we have quite a few cases of large amounts of inflation in which the inflation rate was far in excess of the actual money going around and that seems to be the best explanation of this.

...

So the following either happens :

1. We get a repeat of the 70s, the stagflation is blamed on "socialism" and the resulting backlash drives a good chunk of the population into heavy right wing capitalism, which is what happened with Reagan. The right wing is then awarded with "fixing all the economic issues", quite possibly by slowing down the entire economy with massive hikes in rates like we did back then, which really isn't anything to do with either right or left wing politics.

2. Inflation carries on going, things start falling apart, the country collapses. Hitler 2 comes along and blames it on the left and uses it to get in the power, well done America.

...

And progressives call moderates like me stupid.

That is a nice analysis. That situation killed the USSR - inflation of the Ruble starting sommetime around 1967.

Just looked, yeh that's nasty long run subtle inflation, slow and steady until it kills the country...
