so yeah, anyone playing?

Complete noob here. :p

What mods are you guys using. So far I've only using anime portrait + anime races mods.

I've found that the gigastructures mod is great fun. It takes an enormous amount of resources and time, but the Matryoshka Brain gives 1500 research in each type. Near instant tech advantage, there.

I play, though I kinda suck. Every time a crisis rolls up I get squashed.

I recommend the more colours mod, really allows you to get that "just right" sense when creating your empire.

Every time I play I basically try to re-create communism in the game as there is no actual socialist ideology, but you can use facets of different traits and how to treat other civilizations to basically create one. Like, I pretty much blockade any Capitalist civilization I find and ignore any diplomatic requests.

Eh, the latest news coming from the economy rework indicates that they'll be communists. ;)

For me the big change was the hyperlanes being mandatory.

Yeah, I'm still not sure if I liked that one. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed having a hyperlane only game, but I still feel that the other modes of travel offered unique options.

I was sorta hoping they'd put them in the game as other options that you could 'discover' rather than just having the dangerous psy-jump tech.

The Old wormhole was best by far.

Your inferior warp drive cannot match the length and girth of space that my ships can reach with but a single station built.

Ha! jokes on you, with the Warp Drive, I can go anywhere I want, colonize any planet I want without limit, sure, there's like... a 30 day wait whenever I want to jump to another system, but that's the cost of progress!! no need for vulnerable Wormhole Stations that can be attacked and destroyed by a small flotilla bah!

Glorious Psy Jump Drives are best. Especially when it spawns a galaxy ending event....

In my enemies back yard. :devilish:

Alternatively, when it spawns the unbidden literally five hyperlane jumps from your capital.

That game sucked. I ended up as about three colony worlds in the ass end of the galaxy with the remnants of my fleet.

My worst experience from it so far was where it triggered a war between the fallen empires, who promptly obliterated the galaxy AFTER putting down the unbiden. I tried to escape to just a single long world on the rim. My final moment was surrendering my people to the fallen empire, who at the very least believed in law and order, and weren't just out to murder everything. Our only claim to fame being that in spite of the unbiden and a war in heaven we held out against the insurmountable until the only choices we were left with were annihilation or capitulation.

I prefer Regular Jump Drives, thank you very much. Too much 40K for my taste.

Besides, Jump Drives are essentially Warp Drives on crack, and as a WGTOW guy, this is very good!

I liked the hyperspace only rework... too much headaches with three different drives with very little balancing. Four if you count jump drives.

Hell, Sword of the Stars 2 did a better fucking job than Stellaris in the 'balancing FTL' regard.
