On a Knife's Edge, a Post Weltkrieg 2 Kaiserreich Japan Game

I figure that China and India, along with the border states would provide the bulk of the land forces. Therefore we should encourage the development of local industry to supply those forces along with infrastructure upgrades to make sure there are no bottlenecks. Since we have a long naval tradition and have to import our raw materials the navy and air force should be out priority. India, China, and other states can build, supply and provide naval forces and Marines/SNLF but Japan's natural domain is the sea. Compared to other members our land forces will be smaller but more highly trained and equipped.

I figure Japan would be the first to develop new weapons and technologies to be exported and built by our members. Since we have large amounts of territory both air power and later on satellites would be useful. We can trade space for time and make an enemy invasion force bleed for every kilometer. The Army will need to make a transition to a more Rapid Response force in order to combat banditry.

Japan alone cannot win the naval war. The Internationale has both the great shipyards of western Europe and the United States, not to mention the vast resources of the Americas. Relying solely on Japanese shipyards and Japanese seamen will not be enough to build a navy that can keep the Internationale off controlling the Atlantic whilst threatening the Pacific. Our main goal with the navy is that it should be able the split the Internationale into two, as once India and China begin developing, Europe alone can never defeat the full might of the armies of the CPS without American support. China and India getting a modern navy should be their military priorities. It doesn't matter much if there are fewer men in Africa, Siberia and the Middle East to fight the syndies. It also doesn't matter if our troop and equipment quality is slightly lower than the Internationale's. Losing the land war means that the Internationale has to do the most logistically difficult invasion ever in history, across territory with poor infrastructure and unforgiving environments, with hostile populations that would utterly destroy any further offensives once a proper guerilla campaign happens. The border states should focus on having armies and being an utter bitch to be invaded yes, but for the nations further from the frontline, like China and India, they should too mainly focus on the naval side of things as well. Helping them create a strong naval tradition should be considered. All of the Internationale's oil comes from the Americas. Cut that off and the war in the west will eventually go to our favour. Yes, them successfully invading the Middle East or Siberia would help their oil situation, but the fact is it's they have to fight to keep the land, much less safely extract it. In a conventional war between the CPS and the Internationale, the quickest way to win would be winning the sea, as the land war's very nature is going to be a long bloody one, one that it's much easier for them to get bogged down in an offensive than us due to geography.

That said, I believe the social democratic Pan-Arab movement is a thing in this timeline, no? Helping the Arab states unify and prosper should be top priority in the land wars grand strategy as the Middle East is the centrepiece of the CPS's western front. It holds a huge amount of oil the Internationale desperately needs and is the only feasible invasion route to hurt the closest CPS great power, India.

Also Mozambique, Madagaskar and South Africa. We need them in our camp. In case of Mozambique we forment a counter revolution. We have to make the Indian Ocean a CPS lake.

FYI, the USA is not a member fo the Internationale, if you watched the world map in full, you can see that America is dark blue, they're not the CSA.

Oh, shit wtf that changes everything. Ok, I haven't thought it through yet but I think the best choice of action on the Americas is to offer the US to be our allies or at least neutral with friendly trade relations by helping them enforcing the Monroe Doctrine and Operation Condor'ing everything in the Americas. Europe alone cannot do anything besides Posadian M.A.D without the resources in the Americas.

Eh, they really don't wanna do anything with us honestly. They're too busy rebuilding RN, and none in the Japanese government really want to deal with America RN.

Hmmm... I am just not sure if Huey Long's America can really survive long term and not fall back into another Civil War with a syndicalist victory. With how it's surrounded by Syndicalist nations, if their economy remains shit for the common people then a quick bloodless syndie coup d'etat and an instant entrance to the Internationale becomes very possible. Even just small but heavily America weighted trade deals with them, keeping the Longists in power would be advantageous for us as the US is the only nation that can tip the balance to the Internationale's favour against Japan and an Industrialized China and India.

So Eliar’s proposal won out, and here is the reaction of the House of Representatives as the proposal went to the floor.

Shakai Taishuto: 80% support of the bill, 242 MP’s support it, 60 opposes

Rikken Minseito: Unknown, deliberating, relatively warm to most proposals, (minimum roll for their support, 12)

Rikken Seiyukai: Open opposition to the proposal, (minimum roll for their support, 18)

Rikken Kakushinto: Incredibly warm to all proposals, (minimum roll for their support, 10)

Showakai: Open opposition as well, actively encourages other factions to oppose the amendments to the constitution (minimum roll for their support, 20)

You need 313 seats at a minimum for the amendments to go through, which party would you choose for their support?

Rikken Minseito is the obvious choice here. 2nd to the SocDems in seats, and are still quite likely to support us.

Rikken Minseito (Market Liberals): 104 Seats, 22.27%

And may the dice gods favor us?

Can we use Monarch Points to tip the odds or have we used them all up?

YOU ROLLED AN 18!!!

You guys are really, really lucky bastards, let me tell you that. And on the first try as well.

Because success! Through Tetsu Katayama's sheer force of personality, and a series of haggling between leaders within the Taishuto and the Minseito, Shigeru Yoshida, the leader of the Rikken Minseito, has spoken his vocal support for the proposed amendments, and when Yoshida speaks, the rest of the Minseito follows.

You now have a total of 346 seats, easily more than the 2/3rds majority required, you can push it into the House of Peers, or alternatively, you can convince the other parties to support your bill, a thicker majority can have consequences in the upper house. Whether they be good or bad.

lets grab all we can then?

We will probably have an easier time with the House of Peers if we do.

Yes, Rikken Kakushinto would nice to have. Though, I do wonder, would rolling for a hail mary with the nationalists be worth the risk if there are hidden effects? I assume that if the nationalists manage to agree on something quite liberal, the rest would join automatically since generally, nobody wants to be more right-wing looking than the nationalists.

Yet another 18

Congrats, you rolled another 18. I have no idea how you managed to get this much luck, but yeah, you gained full support from the Kakushinto and the party's leader. Hitoshi Ashida, has publicly declared that these amendments would 'Highly elevate the life for the average Japanese, wherever they are.'

You can now convince the other parties, or go through the upper house.
