Oh dungeon mine~ ( Dungeon/ Destiny Quest)

Chapter 1: Wake up

Fallen_Baroness

House of Wolves stands strong
Author
You woke up with a jolt. Well, as much as of a jolt an orb can. Wait, you were an orb? That doesn't feel right. You could have sworn, that, you were something else once. Something wonderful...

Oh well, that can be dealt with later. It was time to look around. Mmhmm. Yep. Lots of nothing. There was some dirt, quite a bit of smooth rock. All in all, quite boring. You try looking outside to find you are on

[] Venus, a yellowish planet, full of plants and warlike machines and scrambling life forms. You can feel a terrible intelligence passing its gaze over you, clearly interested in something else.

[] Earth, full of life and old broken things. You feel the Dark struggling with a giant orb of Light hanging above some sort of city, full of much smaller Lights.

[] Moon, a broken dusty place that has the Darkness broiling underneath Its skin. You can feel a great hunger surrounding something deep in the center of the Moon, but you don't look too carefully. Who knows if it might see you too.

[] Mars, a place of red dust and war. War machines clash with what look to be Roman space turtles. Heavy weaponry shakes the ground. They all seem so tired...

[] The asteroid belt, this is a place of forgotten things and a balance between Light and Dark. There seems to be life who has both, but something seems, wrong.

Oh wait, there was a shiny thing. It looked like a star kind of. Wait, what's a star? Oh well, for later as well! You concentrated really hard on the star and it seemed to explode into a rectangle in front of you.

" Hello!" Oh, hello! " I am your menu, and I am here to help you with surviving your new world you've found yourself in. Now, due to an error from your arrival, you cannot access light-based minions or accept light-based Contracts." It seemed to shrink for a moment, almost as in apology. " To make up for this, the system has allowed you access to Darkness based minions and those without."

It expanded again. " Now, to get started. What you deal with is buying Rooms, Traps, Upgrades, and Minions."

" Rooms are well, rooms!" It gave a little spin when it said that. Wait, was it speaking, or were you imagining the voice? "You can put stuff like Minions and Traps in them. There are some special rooms, like a boss room, and you can also add effects like a Darkness Zone, but we will talk about those later."

" Traps are obstacles you can put in rooms, like on the floor, or wall or even the ceiling, and they will hinder and invaders progress into your dungeon! They go off when a person comes through and will set themselves back when they leave. " It showed a massive spike that was- oh my heavens was that on fire!

The cheery voice of death kept going. " Upgrades! Every one loves upgrades! Well, unless it's you, then your enemies will hate yours. Use these to make things better, like better traps." The spike now was a chain saw. Oh, and still on fire. Lovely. " You can also buy these to make your minions better and add special surprises~" it almost sounded sultry. Does that mean it's happy? Wait, what do either of those mean?

" Now I bet your thinking, ' But Menu, what are these minion things you keep bringing up?' Well, I'm glad you asked Core of mine! Minions are creatures you buy to help defend yourself. Minions are permanent and will respawn after death, but for some, there's a limit on how many you can have per floor. It all depends on how strong they are!"

It changed into a hand and pointed at you. " Now, there are a couple more housekeeping rules before I let you off the leash. This, this is you. You'll probably wanna keep that safe, cause if this little orb goes, so do you."

It twirled, turning back into a rectangle. " Now, anyone who comes in has to have a route to your core. You can traps and all sorts of stuff, but they got to be able to get to it without any special effort in making an entryway.

Mana is what you get from time. And, well, I'll leave the other one a surprise for now. Hehehe~"

She turned back into a rectangle. " SO, here are your starting options!"

[]Cabal: The might of the empire is behind you! Crush any who dare invade your realm with Iron and heavy weaponry. Start with 5 legionaries and have your first room be decorated in proper Cabal fashion. [ No negative effects, all cosmetic] When defeated they drop 50 Glimmer. 20% for green engram. Can buy more legionaries for 5 Mana each.

[]Vex: The Machines of war have decided keeping you alive is in their best interest. Keep your enemies at bay with the time machinations of the Vex. Start with 5 Harpies and have your starting room decorated in Vex machinery and crystals. [ All cosmetic] drop 50 Glimmer. 20% for green engram. Can buy more harpies for 5 Mana each.

[]Fallen: Pirates and scavengers, maybe you can help them remember their forgotten glory. Start with 5 Dregs and have your starting room decorated in the ways of the Fallen. [ All cosmetic] Drops 50 Glimmer. 20% for green engram. Can buy more Dregs for 5 Mana each.

[]Hive: The Sword Logic has found a home here. Face your invaders with terrifying magic and old abominations from beyond the stars. Start with five thrall and have your starting room be decorated with Hive crystals and the darkness. [ all cosmetic ] drops 50 Glimmer. 20% for green engram. Can buy more Thralls for 5 Mana each.

" You choose one for now, but later one, when you got another level you can choose another one if you want, or keep going with what you got. All up to you really. So, you ready to go Core?"

She pauses. " Actually, you know what, nope. You need a name. What you wanna be called?"

[] Name: Write it in

Not sure about the name.
Well then, I can offer up some names! Do you want a male tilt, female, or neither?

Chapter 2: Cabal on Earth, no way for this to go badly.

[X] Name: Akwan

You hummed or made noise as well as an orb could, and looked out onto the world that was your home. You couldn't see much just a little 360 area around you, but what you could see in front showed trees and what looked like ruined buildings a ways behind them. And behind you, were more trees. Lots more trees.

" I am, Akwan. Yes, that is me."

Well excellent! Now, from what you've seen, which minions do you want first?

" I think, these Cabal. I can always make do with some extra muscle, and the idea of big weapons is, oddly appealing."

Excellent! Give me just one moment.

A few seconds, five grey balls of energy came to life around your orb, slowly shifting into the form of Legionaries. Taking a moment to get used to their new existence, they turned towards your orb and slammed their hands against their chests, letting out soft grunts and falling to their knees. " Master." They were grey with large weapons, and various pouches.

You, didn't know how you felt about this.

[] Uncomfortable.
[]Pleased.
[]Indifferent.

As you looked over them, you noticed that they all had circles on their shoulder pads. " Menu, what's with," you did your best to poke at it, " that?"

Oh, that? I thought that if we ever ran into other Cabal, you would like to have a better way to tell them apart. So, the circle. Do you not like it?

[] No, the circle is fine.
[] No, it is not fine.
-[] What do you change the symbol to?

[] Keep them grey.
[] The color grey is wrong, and I hate it.
-[] What do you change their color to?

You waited a while and contemplated what to spend your mana on. You had 20, whatever the unit was. Was mana liquid? A solid? Could you drink mana? All important questions. Oh, speaking of important things. Your room had shifted to look like the inside of a bunker, with dirty metal floors and your core looking like some sort of command table. Your orb now had a large circle on the part that faced outwards, the same exact circle on your troops.

While you were thinking, you heard scuttling outside. " If your leading us into another Hive ambush." There was a loud voice, a sort of hissing noise following it.

" You're not following me, your following the shank, who said it heard something." A slightly tinnier voice hissed back, agitation clear. They were a group of five, not counting the flying machine. Four of them had two arms and pistol look things, while one had 4 arms, and a better looking gun. A rifle maybe? They were all wearing red, with the apparent leader wearing a sort of red clothe around him that became a cape towards the back.

What do you want to do?

( Anything you buy will be set up before they get there.)

[] Write in your strategy, and anything you want to buy.

I'm sorry, I thought I included this part in the floor section. You need a starting room of the same race to be able to summon units. Like, for Vex you would need a vex starting room.

Updated my vote.

You didn't know how to process them bowing at first. But as you thought about it, more and more you felt... pleased. Yes, you felt pleased. They were yours to command, so why wouldn't they bow? Yes, this was good.

As for their color, it didn't much matter. Grey was a nice inoffensive color, and since you didn't have a favorite color, it would suit you just fine.
---------------------------------------

As you heard the invaders come closer and closer, you decided to buy one more soldier and another room. The mana for the room quickly left your orb, seeming to dig out dirt and anything in its way before a nice, boring metal flooring and walls took its place, matching perfectly with the decor of your original room. Now, as for what else you could buy...

" Menu, I want to buy some Vex."

The system flickered to life.
Sorry to tell you, but you can't do that.

" Why can't I buy them?"

Well there are a couple of problems. One, not only will unlocking them get rid of the rest of your Mana, buying one will put you over your limit. And besides, you need a starting room for them. At least you do If you want them to be able to go outside.

" Wait, I can send my troops outside!"

Yes. You need a starting room though. It's what lets me collect their soul if they die outside. Until you get one, the vex will have to stay in here, where I can more easily collect their essence. And buying over your limit will have consequences. It's going to hurt. A lot.

" I don't care. Do it."

You didn't know how, but you could feel the menu taking in a breath, and you swore you could hear them say
This is going to suck.
Then, you were on fire.
------------------------------------------------
You were a nameless Legionary, created by your master. Born to serve, you would do what was required.

You watched as energy left master, the one who called themself Akwan. It hurt them, but you didn't know how to fix it. So instead, you simply waited. The energy formed into a ball, and then into the grey-colored version of a Hob-Goblin. Its red eye whirred and it looked up at the master's orb, bowing in supplication. it only stayed like that for a moment though as the invaders were closing in.

They were not of Akwan, and thus were not worthy of entering. Not without dying and giving their life to him anyway. You grunted at the others and three of them moved into the room their master had so generously given them, having the Hob-Goblin hang back behind the master and the other one besides you standing in the corner close to the doorway. You took the opposite side of him, and you waited.

" Alright, whatever it wants, it seems to be in here."

" Good. We're going in."

" But, sir, I can just send in the Shank to-" there was the sound of metal meeting flesh and of something large slamming against the ground. A cry of pain had followed it almost immediately after, and faint sobbing as well.

" I said we are going in. If anyone else wishes to join this, less than a Dreg, then feel free to complain." There was silence. " You will all go in first."

The two-armed ones, sufficiently cowed it seemed, slowly made their way inside, flying machine above them. The four-armed one walked behind them, and the Hob-Goblin charged up their weapon. A moment later, the four arms head was gone. Combined with you and the other Legionary firing at the same time, as well as the others rushing out, and the corpse of their former leader blocking their way out, they were quickly disposed of. Their bodies fell to the floor as well, and their drone was quickly shattered, scraps collapsing in a heap. Their bodies vanished not too long afterward.

You could still hear the quiet crying of the now one arm outside and decided that when the master came back you would follow his orders on what to do with them.
----------------------------------

Akwans screams of pain died off, shaking their metaphorical head. " Fuck, that hurt!"

I warned you that it would!

" Yeah yeah. Anyway, I see we have mana now?"

Yes. And since you killed all, well, almost all of them, you actually leveled up.

" Cool. What does leveling up do for me?"

It gives you more mana. That's about all I know.

" Well, I guess I'll work with it. So, what can I do now?"

Well, you can send your cabal outside and see what's beyond your sight. If you bring us unique objects, I can make unique weapons, rewards, and other things. Oh, and there's a Fallen Dreg outside. He's managed to drag himself behind some rubble. I don't know what you want to do with him, but whatever you want, I'm up for it.

[] Let the dreg live and run away.
[] Kill the dreg.
[] Bring him inside, and see what happens.

[] Have your Cabal explore around you.
[] Keep them home, safe, and sound.

(You have full 30 Mana right now.)
