Valley Girl
Author
Work in progress, about witches with a lesbian relationship.

"What?" Kay asks her friend, a blonde girl dressed in a perky goth style, combining a black skirt and clingy red-black top.

Kay was very surprised. She held her hands close to her, and took a step back.

"What's wrong? If you're really a friend, and since I've helped you grow bunches in your career as a 'witch' you'd only naturally pay me back, right? Just sign here, here and...." Kat pointed her long nail at the places on the contract.

Kay smoothed out her skirt. She was in Kat's favorite place, a cemetery where she smokes menthols and talks to her Mommy, which she sometimes does.

Kay signed each place on the contract. She looked at the ground. Kay bought time by pulling back up her tight fitting jacket, and applying some perfume, tho Kat had won.

"Aw. Don't be sad. You're nothing special, Kay. There are hundreds of witches here, you just found me, and my friend." Kat got closer. She spoke sweetly and touched Kay's shoulder.

Kay shook and nods convinced. She stands with her legs shaking, feeling nauseous, and waits.

"Like who's your friend?" She asks.

Her friend smiles a red lipstick smile and giggles. Kay hears whispering female voices.

The brown haired girl heard whispers from thousands of voices all at once. She didn't understand tho felt something. She could feel a presence inside her and then heard nothing.

"Remember. Meet me here everyday for training. We'll be working on something no witch has ever done, girlfriend...." Kat kisses Kay on her cheek and walks off, leaving Kay standing there feeling dizzy.

The girl wandered home, to the coven, who stayed at an abandoned school building. It was built hundreds of years ago.

She saw that they were talking in the hallways, class was coming up. Kay walked to her class in a hurry, looking at her sneakers.

The class was about famous witches and what their accomplishments were. The girl stood at the door and used some hand sanitizer, then started to paint her nails.

When it was time for class, Kay filed behind the other girls and went inside. The room had a chalkboard, there was one window, and desks. The teacher started talking about a witch who made love potions.

"This woman, Julianne Lockwood, created a drug that would cause physical addiction. Like when you girls get addicted to sugary drinks, right?" The woman laughed and some of the girls laugh too.

"Only problem is, eventually she couldn't make it anymore, and she died. The potion required a flower. Does anybody know what it is?" And silence filled the room, Kay wrote something in her notebook.

A black girl spoke up, raising her hand and being called on.

"The flower is the Teardrop Flower, right?" She sat back, when the teacher say she's correct.

Kay wrote notes while she daydreams about something. She hears the sound of girls crying. She hears Kat giggling. The crying continues, causing Kay to feel like she may pass out.

Kay falls sideways from her desk trying to get up, unconscious.

When she woke up, the nurse told her to go home, after the last class. She had been pass out that long?

In the hallways Kat handed her a note. It read:

Hey girlfriend~

Come to the bridge at 12, nobody's there~

Xoxo Kat

PS: hear you fainted are you okay?

The brunette girl was walking to the bridge, a place that passes into downtown, tho most people don't walk that way so late. Shivering a little, Kay pulls up her jacket, and checks her makeup in her hand mirror.

Kat is there singing something. Quietly. Kat smiles as her girlfriend walks close enough and motion for her to make herself comfortable. Kay stands nearby.

"What have you always felt like doing?" The blonde girl asks.

"Um. Don't know. Just, um, can make water and n-nothing e..." Kay reconsider talking as Kat continue.

"So what we're going to do, is help you get better. We just need two things, one: a resource for you to learn from, acquiring it. And two: if you get in danger, call out for me or our friend. Even you can do that, right baby doll?" Kat asks with a smile.

"Yes. Just... how do we get a book to learn from?" Kay holds herself.

"Steal it, like, right?" Kat clicked her tongue and pointed at Kay.

Kay felt confuse as a million small voices echo and come together into a sea of soft noise. She felt weak in her knees and lightheaded. She nodded.

"So we go to the part of town where the collectors hang out. You're gonna have to do something for me, okay?" Kat got closer.

"You're too innocent to be made the fall girl right? So while you distract them, I'll take the book." Kat toyed around with her girlfriend's bangs, looking at her eyes.

They walked to a part of town witches knew hoarders of knowledge were. These people sold it, keeping their things close, but displayed. Kat pulled her girlfriend and took her toward somebody.

This woman looked professional with a dress that had hearts on it, over a black background. She wore a dark blue jacket and occasionally adjusted her sunglasses, which Kay found off at night?

"Hey can we buy something from you, Miss?" Kat asks sweetly, going behind Kay.

The woman nods and the whispers come back. Kay walks around the display to a faraway book and points it out. While retrieving her totally trendy handbag, she drops several coins, and turns the other way.

While this woman secretly took her change, Kat walked quickly, taking the book. Then Kay says she feels a bit sick and excuses herself. Kat and Kay begin moving away as fast as they can go.

When they were back at Kat's favorite place, Kay walked over to a mostly empty space, and looked at the garden around her. Kat smiles and tosses her the book, which hits her in her face.

Kay thanks Kat as the book drops and she asks:

"Is that girl gonna be like, um... angry?" She picked up the book.

Kat shook her head, her earrings moving.

"Why would she? It's a hustle, just try to avoid her or pay her back later or something?" Kat looks at her fingers.

Kay asks if they wanna do something? Kat replies that It's time to learn how to practice a style of witchcraft no witch had tried.

"Is that true? What... are you talking about?" Kay tremble.

"My Mommy, a lovely and caring woman, was taken from me. And I cry at night wishing to feel her hugs and kisses. You know what that feels like, don't you little girl?" Kat begins petting Kay's hair, staying close.

"So I learned that using a little blood, and asking my friend, we can contact her. You wanna be a good girlfriend and help me out, right?" Kat didn't wait for a answer and, removing a shiny object from her little purse, cut Kay on her hand.

The brunette held her breath after a sharp inhale, dizzy. She brought up her hand and looked at it, then Kat, who was carving little marks with her knife.

"Okay, when I'm done, you ask our friend for help. You need to find a way to talk to my Mommy, through the veil of the afterlife, then I take over." Kat was drawing for a long time.

Kay tried in vain to stuff a tissue on her hand. She could feel her friend already peeking at the edges of her head.

Kat told her to stand at her Mommy's grave. Kay stood there looking away from the marker placed for this woman. She felt sad for Kat, imagining her cry. The voices in her head were whispering, a plea, a question, a million sounds she could not understand.

Kat suddenly stood up and walked back to her girlfriend and hugged her. Kissing her and thanking her once. Then she told her to reach out, making her sit down, then keeping a lookout.

Kay asks if she can talk to somebody, the voices giggle.

who are you who are you *giggle*?

we must find the lost girl and, bring her back. You're her... little thing

Kay didn't get why her friend cared about their relationship, her confusion making it laugh. Then it pulled her spirit out of her body, which killed her to Kat's point of view.

Kat teared up and cried a little. She smelled a familiar scent like flowers and something burning. She could smell that just before she died to do the same ritual.

Kay felt like she was unconscious for years. She felt like she was falling and twirling and then woke up in a shadowy garden. There were soft faeries like lights flitting across a nighttime landscape.

Is it like possible to talk to Kat's Mommy again?

yes, of course. Except... what if she doesn't want... to? *giggles*

Kay saw her friend walking closer like a shy little girl. She had a fishtail braid, which was purple. She wore a dress, and a mask, and as she came closer it was impossible to ignore that she sounded unnatural.

Kay shivers her entire body. The girl giggles and then is right next to her. She touches her hand and begins to guide her thru the garden, towards a river. The river was deep and wide, and the little girl began crying.

what's wrong? Kay asks, her mouth not moving

The little girl cries for a while longer and then walks to the edge of the river and jumps in. Kay feels terrified and jumps in after her. She felt the water pushing her and swam against it, calling on her magic to make herself able to breathe, tho it drained her.

All she could think about was helping this girl and when she touched her hand, the girl's mask fell off, as Kay took her back to the surface.

Except when she surfaced they were in the middle of a frozen forest. The trees had ice on them and there was snow on the ground. Kay took the girl back onto land and laid on the shore, keeping her legs and arms close, heavily shivering.

The little girl laid next to her and tried to hug her. She whispers in her ear and the brunette stands up, wringing out her top, water freezing on the ground. There was a woman in a coat at the center of the forest. She was cooking next to a fire.

Kay and her friend walk closer, the little girl walking around and around Kay.

h-hi hi?

The woman turns around and the teen girl is stunned by how beautiful she is. She has long blonde hair, longer than Kat's, and brown eyes. She wears some face makeup, and her nails are long and painted with a clear polish.

"You must be my girl's partner. What are you doing here?"

Kat appears on the scene. She comes up to Kay and hugs and kisses her once. Then she turns to her Mommy. She looks distant.

"Hi, you've heard about, this lovely girl Kay?" Kat got behind Kay.

Her Mommy looked unimpressed. She takes off her coat and puts it on a rock.

The little girl peeks out from even farther back, looking at nobody and everybody.

"Yeah, well, I talk to you and share feelings tho when are you bringing me back?" She put her hand on her hip.

Kat shivered and looks away, grabbing her arm and lowering her posture. She seems to be thinking.

"Me and Kay made a friend. She's here!" Kat turns sideways and points to the little girl.

"What's your name, girl friend?" Her Mommy tries not to scare her, tho looks suspicious.

You may call me... whatever you wanna... I don't have a name

the little girl moves her feet, waiting. She sees a bug on the ground and makes a surprised sound, moving away, not looking at anybody now

"Then I'm calling you... Rose. You look like a, 'Rose.'" Kat's Mommy said cheerfully.

Rose thanked her, then after a considerable silence:

Thank you ma'am. How may she call you?

"You're referring to yourself in third person... that's weird." Kat's Mommy frowned and sighed.

"My name is Jenni, thank you, I guess." Jenni bit off a piece of fingernail that broke, then went back to cooking.

How did she find ingredients? Kay wondered. She looked at her putting in cut up vegetables and then watching, them cook.

"I made this place a home. It is, since I was taken from life, by a killer." Jenni teared up. Her teardrop fell and a flower bloomed, with pink and green petals.

"Mommy, don't worry. I remember how you are strong. I know how to bring you back. Rose, can you help, please?" Kat sweetly and urgently requested, on tiptoes, showing some vulnerability.

Rose covered her mouth and laughed, then cried for a time, before peeking at Kat sideways.

of course. She has seen this story before lost girls reaching across distances. Um, Kitty and Kay, you may not like what we gotta do....

"I know what we have to do. We have to give up a part of ourselves to guide Mommy back, right?" Kat asked.

The little girl looked at the ground and then back at Kat. She didn't say or do anything.

"You were waiting to bring me back, Katherine?" Jenni sounded hurt.

Kat shook her head partially crying. She sniffled and regained her composure.

Kay was very confuse. She looked between the three girls. She undid the jaw clip securing her tightly wrapped bun, then redid it quickly. She blinked rapidly as tears came to her eyes too.

"Kat what are we doing?" Kay pleads. She walks closer to Kat and stops next to her, waiting, looking trouble by her pain.

Kat breaks up, her voice a bit higher pitch.

"We--We're j-just advancing... our sk-skills. Like... We have to help Mommy. " Kat looked into Kay's eyes, seeming very desperate.

So the girls all started discussing what they would give up.

Penny was a shy girl, until she died, and was reborn. She had signed her body to science and now was waking up. She shot up and looked around, terrified.

"Greetings. You have been chosen to do an experimental procedure developed by our company. You have been given a second chance at life." The woman wore pink lipstick, glasses and a skirt and long sleeved top.

Penny giggled and held herself, rocking. She saw there was no life support, tho there was a tray of tools.

"We dreamed of a future where friends and family can be together forever. You and nine other girls were chosen to return to life. Except, we are unsure how, like people that knew you would react." The scientist looks at her computer.

Penny tried to respond, tho couldn't. The scientist looks worried and then laughs. She gives Penny some juice.

The girl doesn't drink it at first. Then she puts it down and stares at the scientist, waiting.

"Do you wanna see what you look like?" She handed the subject a mirror, then explains:

"You don't need to be afraid you're still human, kinda. You're technically dead. We've done our best to create a new life for you elsewhere." The scientist looked up something, then typed notes.

"Your new name is, 'Sierra.' And you now live in a nice apartment in the city. We gave you identification that reflects your appearance. Um, Miss, please don't be scared." The scientist looks for Sierra eyes from her glasses.

Sierra peeks at herself in the mirror. She looked malnourished and her long hair was now a very dark black and blue. Her face looked a little sunken. She shivered and held herself, trying to reconcile the changes to how she look in life.

Sierra sighed softly, closing her eyes. She took a breath and exhaled, then sipped a little juice, tho her expression was empty.

The scientist sighed and smoothed her skirt. She typed her final notes, that the procedure was successful tho the subjects emotional state, unstable.

Sierra tried to stand up slowly. Her knees shook and her foot tapped uncontrollably. She fell down and the scientist walked next to her, offering her her hands. Then softly helping her to her feet.

"I know this is life changing. Please take your time to rest in our facility. The other girls are in the recreational area, having lunch, or just chatting, ha ha." The scientist waited and, Sierra stood there, staring at a wall.

Unsure of how to comfort Sierra's grief, she thought giving her name so Sierra could find her at the facility...

"Um. Like, my name, is Josie. Please find me in the office down the hallway if you need something." Josie waited.

Sierra handed her the juice, then walked awkwardly to the tray next to her bed, looking at the tools. She couldn't really get the full extent of what happened. Sierra picked up a syringe and showed it to Josie.

"Oh that? It's... a chemical that serves the function 'normal food' does, in your system now. You'll need a shot every month. You may feel hungry suddenly, be sure to take your shot on time or, um, like...." Josie played with her sleeves a little.

Sierra made a biting motion with her mouth and set the syringe back down.

Josie laughed uncomfortably and touched her shoulder, patting her awkwardly.

Sierra smiled a little and then got back into bed. Socializing wasn't yet on her list and besides: living at group homes as an adult, taught her that strange girls together could be lovely or a tragedy.

She remember a time when she sat at the wrong lunch table and, people 'jokingly told her that there were other people coming.' And physically got in her face 'til she left, in tears.

Sierra was in her room for hours, thinking, trying to let go of her old life. She touched her heart and softly sighed, the only sounds in the room the buzz of the lights use to brighten it.

Sierra lost track of time.

Sylessa the half elf girl, attends a very unusual high school. To start with, the student body is made up of fantasy people like trolls, goblins, orcs, etc. Sylessa herself doesn't really stand out except for her pink dyed hair and a tattoo of an upside down heart over her eye. She dresses in hoodies, skirts, small high heels or sneakers and is very 'girly-girl.' She is on the soccer team as one who try to kick the ball to the goal tho she's not the fastest or doesn't have the best aim, except she tries.

Her best subject is PE. Her worst subject is Science. Her best friend is an orc girl who is also rather girly and wears her hair in two buns. Her friend is a bit 'well built' for a girl and often intimidates others without meaning to, tho she tries to smile a toothy smile and apologize to ease the tension.

Sylessa gets along very well with boys. In fact several boys wanna date her right meow. She tries to get along with other girls tho they seem to feel that elves have dominated the public discourse about magical beings and are stealing the spotlight and pushing other people out of the public discussion.

There is a little problem with places like the school she goes, which is, that magical beings are being erased by 'normal people.' Normal people have always outnumbered them and are now trying to create a world where normal is beautiful and odd is just odd.

Sylessa and her friend Janessha the orc were walking down the hallways one day when they saw a boy talking to a girl. The boy was a normal boy, dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. The girl was known to communicate with animals and nobody else. She was dressed in a brown and tan dress with a ribbon wrapped around her waist and tied at the back with a bow.

"Don't you think that it's really weird to practice magic? Why not learn a real skill like First Aid or some science facts? You'd get a real job a lot faster." He crosses his arms and looks at her sternly.

The girl looks at the ferret on her shoulder who smiles mysteriously, touches her lower lip with her long nail, and says nothing.

Sylessa and Janessha intervene:

"What's going on?" Janessha asks first.

"Oh, nothing you need to know. This is our conversation, thanks." The boy responds defensively tho he backs out of J's range 'cause she, is honestly bigger than him.

"It looks like you were picking on a girl who doesn't like to talk. Is that true?" The teenage orc smiles in a slightly unnerving way and gets between the girl and the boy.

"If she and you feel threatened by my people rising in society then maybe you should reconsider just parking yourselves in normal neighborhoods. It's time for non-magical beings to be treated with respect." The boy then huffs and storms off.

"Are--Are you okay?" 'Lessa asks the silent girl.

The girl giggles uncomfortably and her ferret friend nuzzles her cheek.

Sylessa looked at the floor and scuffled her high heeled sandals. She wished she understood why some people made things into, like, a war....

Janessha and Sylessa walked on. They were treated to a discussion in their next class about the state of affairs in the world:

"People without magic powers or ancestry feel underrepresented and like their voices aren't heard. They have reported increased distress over magical beings in their neighborhoods, leading to tension. The public discussion has changed from, 'How do we get along?' to 'How do we keep our group alive?'" The teacher, a woman with raven black hair in a long ponytail, commented as she adjusted her glasses.

Sylessa wrote down notes in her notebook. Her thoughts wandered to her home life. She never learned magic, her human Mommy, said it was too easy. Like 'cheat codes' for life. Her father, wanna have her get to know what the elves of the fam went thru, tho Sylessa was busy with school frequently. She often overextended herself to please others. She remembered one time she tried to help Janessha when she was sick all day and missed helping Mommy in the garden on a day she really wanted her help.

She got up and left the class in a daze. She walked out of school and back towards her home, which was in a rural area, more like suburbia than the country tho. Flowers in dazzling colors grew in neatly arrange rows in grass that looked too perfect. The work of nature sorceresses. Elves were skill with creating natural beauty, as it was told that they came from primordial beings who were nature incarnate.

Her parents weren't home. Tho there was a girl standing outside of her house looking lost. This girl was dress in a raggedy jacket with ripped up sleeves, that only came to her waist, and had no buttons or zipper. Her skirt was dirty and wet. Her shoes scratched and dirty too.

"I don't know what to do. Miss, can you help me? I'm lost." The girl was almost crying. She hid her face to hide her shame.

Sylessa nodded.

"What do you need help with?" She asks.

The girl looked around and shivered.

"It's very cold. I'm hungry. I need to find my way back to where I live, except... some goblins were harassing me. I feel like they'll attack me if I go alone." The girl was ushered inside.

Sylessa cut up some brightly colored fruits. First she put in bitter ones, sprinkled on top with leaves. Then she put in sweet ones, cut into halves and then cut up again into bite size chunks. She sprinkled the top with crushed nuts. The half elf girl walked back to the table where her guest was and set down the salad. The girl smiled... something about that smile reminds her of when J was being mischievous, tho why would she think that?

The girl wolfs down the salad. Then Sylessa gets done picking up around the house and cleaning dishes her daddy uses, before sitting down next to her guest.

"You say goblins were botherin' you, right? What were they doin'?" Sylessa leans her elbow on her knee and supports her face with it, trying to look casual, despite her worry.

"They were kids from school. They were screaming that I'm a bad girl and they know my secrets, and they're gonna hurt me with them, tomorrow and today if I go back home." The girl smiled again after crying. Sylessa assumed she was confused.

"I'll protect you. Just... wait here while I go get my best friend, okay?" She shoots up and runs towards her room.

I had this idea about writing a story a paragraph at a time and then either:

1. Asking for input from the readers about what they believe should happen next.
2. Another person reading can write a new paragraph to continue the story from where I left off. And then I write a new paragraph.

I thought this idea would be fun. For the moment, here's my start to the story:

Clarissa Stark was born into a world of paranoia. The year was 3099 and in the thousand and change years since 2019 things were different:

For one, we have developed advanced robotics and AIs. Beings of metal and circuitry that can realistically mimic the speech and thought patterns of flesh and blood humans. The robots have been given their own rights with a single exception: If they are dangerous their AI will be modified or else they will be shut down. Robotic beings are divided into androids (male-presenting machines) and gynoids (female-presenting machines). There exist those in between, both or neither, and those machines that made themselves look like animals or aliens, but they are less in numbers than the binary-presenting machines. They exist in a constant state of paranoia that humans will cancel their rights and return them to what they consider slavery.

For two, people had perfected genetic modification, gene splicing was a common thing, and extreme body mods began to appear. Humans could now look like angels and devils, aliens, monsters and more. These groups of people are currently less in numbers than the non-modified humans or the not-obviously-modified humans, who actually make up a majority of the population (Clarissa herself was not obviously modified to be more flexible and her senses enhanced). The modified humans are persecuted by the mainstream and radicalized groups have begun to appear sporting the most shocking body mods. They fear being persecuted for who they are and can be very paranoid and guarded.

For three, even normal humans feared something. They feared being replaced by robots and modified humans. They feared the same things they feared in 2019: Homelessness, poverty, discrimination. Everybody was paranoid in this new world. And Ms. Stark had only scratched the surface. A new virtual reality game was sweeping her nation. Having been a gamer in her off time, she looked into it. Something didn't seem right about how the other players talked. It was like in code. Or maybe a bad AI was playing for them? Clarissa had also discovered "jokes" made by radical internet groups to promote hatred of robots and modified humans.

Clarissa was in the middle of a damp cobbled street. Buildings of stone and metal rose up along the path. She was in a less populated area so the houses were farther and farther apart. It gave way to the wilderness in front of her. Behind her was the path back to the Main Square and Business District. To her left, abandoned houses. This was the part of the game for the lower level and poorer players so the houses were still mostly too expensive and as a consequence abandoned. To her right, a fancier home that is decorated with electric lights on the wooden porch outside. The porch has an occupant: A young woman that seems to be absorbed in something else.

Where was she to go?

So where do the readers think she should go? If she approaches the woman what should she say? If she goes into the Business District where should she go? Really the possibilities are endless. But if nobody likes this idea I'll just continue to write by myself.

RP profile for my most hated RPG character: Ravasha Witchhawk.

Name: Ravasha Witchhawk.

Age: The Blood Elf equivalent to 20.

Race: Blood Elf.

Class: Destruction Warlock.

Height: 5'4''.

Weight: Thin to the point of looking a tad sickly. But she takes care of her body otherwise. She might be skinny but she's healthy.

Eye Color: Green (Corrupted by Fel Magic usage).

Hair Color: Auburn Red.

Personality: Ravasha is prepared to do anything to accomplish her goals. She often makes deals with demons or powerful investors who have nefarious ends. Everything about her makes her look amoral, sadistic, scheming and whose sense of humor is triggered by others' failures. Being a part of a minor royal family famous for developing the Mageroyal and Peacebloom scent she was spoiled as their only child and has grown accustomed to preferential treatment altho she can also function totally alone. In actuality Ravasha longs for friendship and understanding from a special person. She takes shortcuts to accomplish her goals but she's not a cartoon villain and can feel positive emotions such as love, empathy (altho hers is impaired), gratitude, happiness. Ravasha's sense of humor entails a little schadenfreude, a lot of sarcasm and a healthy amount of being able to laugh at herself. Ravasha enjoys being a Warlock despite that it was forbidden from her culture until just recently. She will push the rules.

Appearance: She has glowing green eyes as a side effect of Fel (Demon) magic usage. Her long auburn red hair is tied into a tight ponytail. She has reddened skin also as a side effect of Fel magic usage. Her long nails are painted scarlet red. Her build overall is skinny altho not necessarily malnourished because her family provides her money she can use to buy food. She wears crimson red lipstick, mascara, eye shadow and perfume daily.

History: Ravasha grew up in the lap of luxury as the only child and heiress to the Witchhawk family's great wealth. She always presented a little cold and cruel even as a child. Her parents would joke even in front of her that she must not be theirs because she was so alien to how they felt a daughter should behave. When sent off to a boarding school to learn magic she met a Fire Mage who became her girlfriend. The relationship ended when Ravasha graduated altho she has not forgotten her first love.

When Ravasha became a teenager, she sought out a teacher who could teach her the forbidden art of the Warlock. She had a brief tryst with her teacher that ended because she was tired of always being criticized on her hair, her clothes, even her thoughts--and of course her teacher was always there telling her what he wanted.

After witnessing the destruction caused by the Lich King and his taking the soul of Silvermoon's Ranger General Sylvanas Windrunner, Ravasha became disillusioned with her home and left on a journey of self-discovery and mischief.

She experimented with inserting Soul Stones into the cracks on the rocky body of a demonic Infernal. The genderless being became her friend after she was defeated by a ragtag band of adventurers. Ravasha was tried for her crimes by the Alliance (she was looking to join them) and sentenced to be monitored 24/7 to make sure she would not become a threat again.

Ravasha lives in the Mage Quarter now and pledges her allegiance to the Alliance. She still visits her home now and again. But she now knows her parents and those still remaining alive in the Witchhawk family don't have her best interests at heart.
