Growing Horizons: Inner Sphere - Quest

First weapons and when they are done you can develop new armor to defend against it :)
We are operating on the idea that any time we get into ship combat that we are going to be outnumbered so if we can not do quantity we must to quality.
Who and whqt Navy?

We are still believing that the Inner Sphere is operating WarShips, but that we have not seen any yet where we have been. That is slowly changing though...

...i dont think it makes sense but i do think our reaction when we finally realize the truth will be utterly hilarious.

While that is true I was more thinking about this
Especially after S'Jeet is informed that there will be millions of people moved from Clan Space to the Republic. Already present are five Warships, about two dozen jumpships carrying various numbers of dropships and several modular space stations. Two of the stations are factories of their own and one a mining station already processing a small asteroid. However, it is clear these stations are not primarily meant for this sort of construction work and the Pride of Hiigara will increase the production capacity within the system by 400%.
So we had Comstar and their warships and we have nova cats setting up next to us with at least 5 warships, and they are coming from the "clans" so we must assume the clans have warships.

Fair enough, somehow forgot about that.

Another good round. Arminius done and now the real hard work begins trying to unfuck their society. Probable be a decade to really get it done realistically. By then maybe we can make a hyperspace highway directly to them... Eh see how it goes. @Warringer will the 1st need to be reinforced? 1 division and allied mercenary auxiliaries spread across ~12 probable leaves them a bit thin. Could rotates some divisions to help. If not front line then second liners could get good experience and pride from it. With as many as we have there is no reason every world defended cannot have at least a regiment or two functionally. Space Patrol kinda makes sense but it does blur lines a bit. When not actively on a operation all our warships and ACC should be acting as patrol/picket/garrison or just plain hauling cargo or troops about so a separate patrol command might blur the chain of command. Survey is funny just because it was such a hot topic. 14 people voting and still evenly split? Still we get to numbers now anyway and hopefully lost nothing but those ships needed to be kicked out.

Diplo? Taurians were always going to be prickly and Durabys no a warship would have made them flip their shit and start throwing nukes. They have good reason to be xenophobic even if they really need to let go. Edward here? Good he was supposed to be the progressive heir everyone was waiting for. We can work with him. Maybe being here prevents his death. Its funny how out of 5 kids all the older 4 very promising heirs died, disappeared, or where left crippled by disease. Not that there was anything saying there was a conspiracy but well this is when the Taurian slide into insanity and decline. Hopefully we can prevent it but getting to close might be dangerous. Canopians? Eliar is probable right. The Canopians love to party and drunk and blissed out of their minds people will spill all sorts of secrets. Their caution is well warranted but we should be able to come to a agreement and a non aggression pact. Who knows a pleasure circus might be heading our way. Make a profit, friends and let their spies slip into beds and manipulate and learn stuff.

Moving on yeah terraforming Pandemonium should be a great test though how do the locals feel i wonder about it? Many might like it wetter and greener but quite a few might like the deserts. Still it lets use test many things and helps a planet. IST should build on our other adaptations of IS tech though hopefully soon get some people interested in it. Is will freak if they find out we already decoded the core before them... which might be one more thing keeping them away thinking it is just one more thing we are lying about. Science is going good though plasma slightly concerning we should be fine. If combined drives do work out like hope should we do a massive upgrade now or should we wait till weapons and armor is done? I think we should wait and do a single massive fleet wide upgrade because HFEG alone is going to change a lot. Doolittle returns and those ships will probable sit in dock a bit. Engrods and Tillman are out and about so thats very good. Perhaps Tillman I guess will be patrolling homeworlds a bit and the Engrods will be help shuffling troops about. No need to just sit in orbit when they could be doing useful work.

Events? We got a loremaster coming soonish which means actual diplo talk with the Lupos. Be interesting to see where that goes. Karen is doing good work.

Combine war is getting ugly but the FedCom is winning pretty hard. The Combine will not be able to replace the 3rd and 7th any time soon and the other three regiments have to be taking horrible casualties and Davion is just steamrolling at this point. The Black Dragons as ever are making things worse and Marcus could murder his cousin just to take a throne he will lose shortly after. Probable causing a mini civil war that will kill even more people that cant afford to lose right now. The Dragon is entering collapse and can only hope the FedCom can take Luthien and decapitate the Combine before Marcus and the Dragon seize control and go full spite mode.

And earth is just a fucking mess. We should stay far away but this is a opportunity to. Volunteer engineers and supplies could save Earth if we tried.... Only volunteers because they are liable to get nuked by lunatics.

[X] Capital Weapons:
While the majority of weapon systems used on the Belisarius are in a sense prototypes, it might be a good idea to take a closer look at the various weapon systems taken from the WarShip to figure out how to build better weapons for such massive vessels.
Time: 4 turns, Chance of success: 65%, Reward: Multiple new Capital Weapon Systems
[X] Number Station:
The activation of a Hyperwave number station has come as a surprise and might be connected to the bio-attack on Hanse Davion and the problems on Terra. An operation should begin to find the number station and recover it intact, hopefully to learn who made it and from where the final transmissions come.
Time: 5 turns, Chance of success: 45%, Reward: 25% chance to recover number station intact, 50% chance of recovering data intact

Do weapons so we know what our armor needs to be at least as good against and number station to see whats happening. Probable send a full task force and at least a division because why not?

If can be so bold as well:

[X] Send volunteer engineers and technicians and supplies to earth to help rebuild critical infrastructure.

It would get us great good will and a chance to look at interesting systems and frankly the FedCom probable does not have anyone who can do the work and is distracted gutting a Dragon and the people of Terra might not be able to do it fast enough especially if the crazies are making targeted strikes against anyone who can.

They might get reinforced if need be.

Actually Edward did get into that dropship accident in 3034, that would have killed him OTL. Here, however, he survived, though with a few parts less than he should have, as his legs are gone above the knees, but he still can get kids...

Still didn't stop some of his younger siblings to get caught up in various... incidents and diseases. Makes one wonder how that happened...

Good good. We need to keep decent size garrisons on worlds to actually defend them and deal with problems. We are not the successor houses were a single lance decides the fates of worlds with populations in the hundred million.

Uh thats actually a really good thing and we might be able to help him. Having him as Protector might be the best damn thing to happen to the Concordat in a long time if he can actually open them up to sane relations. And yes very odd what happened to many of his siblings but who specifically you have to wonder? Many would not want a competent ruler on a enemy throne. Comstar could have. Magistracy. Doubt FedSun would give enough of a damn. I think very good chance could have been internal crazy factions. The "The Davions are coming for us!" got very strong during Thomas reign and functionally seized control after his youngest was killed later so perhaps they got rid of all the others when they started talking about mad things like not preparing for the Davions inevitable genocide invasion and tried to control Jeffrey and failed?

I blame Shraplen.
The Canopians love to party and drunk and blissed out of their minds people will spill all sorts of secrets.
Better to put Anti-Alcohol/drug Medical Microbots into the ambassadors' blood stream when going for the final medical check up before the party.

I would support this if the author allows it.

There is a rule that says:
Players can propose a new subaction/goal to an existing action, modifying them to a certain degree. Like expanding the scope of a military action to add a new goal.

It is to be done within reason however, not adding a whole different action to the already existing action. Additionally at most 50% of all voters need to do that vote to be taken into account.

Additionally, Players may propose new actions to be added to the list of actions in the following turn.

Can we decide to refit the captured vessels instead of selling them off, at least after we have capital weapons developed? Giving them away would only weaken our diplomatic position regardless if we personally need them

Problem is they are not that useful as main combatants. Our warship doctrine seems increasingly focused on carrying squadrons and act as very heavy support for them. The captured cant carry that many and refitting enough to let them we might as well build our own ships. We could use them as auxiliary gunstars perhaps but dismantling and studying them might be more useful as is scrapping them for metal and sinking one or two as new coral reeds as a fuck you. Though purposal to sell thm does have merit since we gave some to FedCom.
Our Earth is fine.
Their one - Terra - faster they destroy it without our involvement, the better.
There is something like 6 billion people on it and most dont deserve to die in agony. Just trying geets boots on the ground and some good will.

I disagree that selling warships would weaken our diplomatic position. Strategically,in the mid to long term, yes but not diplomatically, in that regard it would do the exact opposite.

Yeah the houses would really like to have them and at least in short term it does help us because if they are using league style ships they are going down the wrong path. League ships are obsolete in the face of our tech and doctrine.

I'll go against the curve and advocate for a better defense. Particularly interested in ground based applications

Thing is until we do weapons we dont really know how strong the armor needs to be to matter. Better ground armor would be great of course but we already have a advantage there with 10% superior armor per ton as is. Its warships where the problem lies because their armor and structure as is is utterly insufficient. Our cruiser weight and above ships cannot take a single salvo of their own main guns and not die. Simply can not. Thats what this project is trying to fix. It is not a problem right now because no one has warships peer to ours but eventually they will and we need our ships to not be vulnerable to first strikes if and when they are forced to actually slug it out and not snipe obsolete ships with rookie crews.
