Economic Liberalism Discussion

Not really. Almost all school shooters expect to die and aren't deterred by death. Your solution at best cuts down the casualties while doing nothing for the frequency. At worst people can't tell the difference between the shooter and the students trying to stop them and you get friendly fire. And a smart school shooter will start at the armoury to cut people off from it.

Another major problem is by putting an armoury on the school grounds you allow people to get "crimes of passion" style events where a student gets emotionally compromised and goes to the armour to solve their problem. Or they decide to play a "prank" with a real gun and tragedy ensues. You'd also get a massive upsurges in suicidies since handing moody teenagers guns is going to result in this. Crimes of passion and suicide are major causes of gun related death, and I fear they'd happen on a far large scale than school shooting if you make guns more easily accessible on school grounds.
We can avoid that by stationing armed police at the entrances.
Automatic grenade launchers should be mandaory for good guys so they can overpower the bad guys. It's much better than your communist solution. I'm so disgusted that you want to share weapons between everyone like in the Soviet Union.
The 1st amendment doesn't apply to those types of weapons. It states firearms.

You filthy communist, you want to take away the fundamental freedom to own an automatic grenade launcher, a standard firearm that just happens to fire a slightly bigger bullet. If you cannot stand the increased freedom that comes with it, don't oppress the rest of us. FREEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM /eagle screeching/

I thought it was the 2nd amendment that discussed the freedom to bear arms.

Also, since the SCOTUS established it's not the duty of the police to get themselves into dangerous situations, why would any cops stationed in school entrances even bother having a shoot-out with a school shooter?

Good point! Arm the students.

Cuba Votes on New Constitution That Nods to Free-Market Policies
Cubans are voting Sunday on their first new constitution in more than 40 years, one which emphasizes the goal of attracting foreign investment.

While the referendum won't shake Communist Party control, the government views it as a way to ratify Cuba's gradual post-Cold War opening to outside investors and private enterprise. President Miguel Diaz-Canel called on the island's estimated 8 million voters to back the overhaul. Government opponents urged a boycott or "no" vote.

"Attracting foreign investment will be key for Cuba's ailing economy," Alana Tummino, head of the Cuba Working Group at the Americas Society/Council of the Americas in New York, said by email. "It will be interesting to see if these constitutional changes create a new strategy to push this agenda forward."
Cuba's potential new constitution can be considered a nudge towards free-market policies. While I doubt the communist/socialist rhetoric from the Cuban government will go away soon, the formal recognization of private property and other passage of policies to expand the island nation's private sector hints that serious changes are coming.

Why Liberalism exactly? When you have a system in which the rich basically have more power then the poor, how exactly does that work with the Liberal concept of equality before justice?

(If you can name ONE capitalist country, where the rich don't have more power, I'll likely concede)
Sealand.

So how long before we get Cuba turned into 90s Russia, or corporations murdering trade unionists?

But don't you understand that's viewing this black and white! They can just have a land registry and rule of law, which just so happens to be blatantly slanted in favour of multinationals.
Huh, you're saying Cuba wants wealthy multinationals to be operating in their country? I wonder why...

Considering the history of multinationals in Latin America, it's a Scorpion and the Frog deal, and the cubans think that they won't get stung this time. :|

As opposed to their current situation which they aren't happy with?

They're going to get screwed over either way: With the US never getting round to lifting Cold War sanctions (Honestly, they should have done that in 1989/91), the problem comes with what's next.

You're way too vague for me to care. I've never heard you say anything about what these impoverished should do to increase their standard of living. Invent everything themselves? No trade with the outside world period? Maintain a noble poverty because even one ounce of exploitation needs to be avoided, even if it meant their standard of living would overall improve despite it?

The developing world needs to industrialise and be capable of telling multinationals to fuck off. The other path involves trade unionists being thrown out of helicopters.

Group of New York Lawmakers Calls for Legalization of Prostitution
A number of New York state lawmakers are calling for the legalization of prostitution.

Senators Jessica Ramos, Julia Salazar and Brad Hoylman, as well as Assemblyman Richard Gottfried are working with Decrim NY to introduce a bill to rewrite the state's penal code to decriminalize sex trades in the state of New York.

Decrim NY is a coalition to "decriminalize, decarcerate and destigmatize the sex trade in New York City and state."
New York state lawmakers Senators Jessica Ramos, Julia Salazar, Brad Holyman, and Assemblyman Richard Gottfried plan on introducing a bill to decriminalize prostitution in their state.

If legalization does happen, let's hope proper regulations are in place. I do not want the workers to be vulnerable to abuse and diseases.

Regulations are needed for a free market. Ideally a group like UNCTAD would act as a watchdog for any human rights violations resulting from corporations operating internationally.

Except, the big multinatonals cry "why do you hate the global poor?" when told they can't record trade unionists being fed to pigs. But hey, the Moloch of the Free Market needs to be satisfied.
