Hey Mothefuckers I am back and more active lately on the site, its been a while and so I am going to drop my latest idea on you guys.
The idea is for a setting inspired by two of my favorite comic characters Doctor Strange and Wong.
Rules are simple.
You can post as many facts about the setting as you want.
You can't contradict a fact that another poster has posted but you can expand on what others have said.
If you feel that something is not a good idea to include, you can ask the person who posted it to remove it or edit it.
If someone asks you to remove something you added, you don't have to do so. However, if you want to keep it you should either edit it to fix whatever problem it had or write an explanation to justify its inclusion.
Please do not post spam. Put some effort and thought into your facts before you post them.
You do not have to be completely serous and some silly ideas are fine, but please avoid adding in outright joke posts.
You may not add anything that breaks the setting or does not fit with what has already been posted. For example, if everyone else is only adding stuff to one planet or one galaxy, please don't add in an entire galactic empire that wasn't mentioned before. Obviously everyone will have a different view of what does and does not break this rule, as long as you try to get what you add to fit the rest of the setting it should be fine.
In the setting you have two magic systems as it were, Sorcery is the Art through use of symbols, words and gestures of channeling the power of extra dimensional forces and such called Aspects, Aspects can be thought of as living abstractions of cosmic principles, sentient cosmos, Mystic Gods of their own dimensional metaphysics. Gods of Magic you might call them for laymen speak and Sorcery is the Art of Invoking these vast energies of a seething realm of the arcane and occult beyond mortal sight to empower spells and cast supernatural reality altering might.
Sorcery bonds the Mage to the Aspect and then harnessing the powers of that Aspect they cast the Black Fire of Drakoth the World Devouring Hellhound!!!! And yes, you have to say that. Using Sorcery is manipulating the domains of Aspects to produce effects based on the themes and concepts that compose this Being of pure Power. Aspects bond with Sorcerers because when a Sorcerer casts a spell in their Name, they grow in power based on the strength of the Sorcerer, in return for letting these Mages harness their energies a Aspect gets some metaphysical weight you might call it, each casting of a spell is like that Sorcerer brought their stock prices up and really good Sorcerers for this analogy by enforcing their metaphysics on reality can give prestige to the brand name of that Aspect. If this sounds very weird and strange, Aspects are beings of concept and occult symbolism, they are not exactly normal in their needs and goals.
Though in turn a Sorcerer that fucks up a spell or losses power lowers the force of a Aspect compared to others of its kind. Sorcery is divided into Circles of Power with each holding a certain rank of Aspect, at the highest you have the Imperial Circle of the great Magi houses who have the power to obliterate cities with words, forge wonders, craft cities of dreams and nightmares and so on. As you can imagine a Sorcerer getting a good array of Aspects to bond to and Aspects Sorcerers to use for their metaphysical power grabs on their own turf is quite important.
The second system is Mana, which is Life Force here and can do anything, it can take on any trait, propertie and or attribute you can think of. Its a highly adaptable form of inner energy, but there is a catch. For one it moulds itself around the beliefs, desires, emotions and Will of those who use it.
Two it requires cultivating and mastering the Flow of energy throughout the body via extreme physical stress and mental discipline
Three it requires physical expression through a fighting style
Four you have to develop and perfect the Techniques for it, say you wanted something like super saiyan right? You can get that but you have to create it first
Fifth is that the power of Mana not counting the fact you have to practice and learn how to use it is in the factor of Will, the stronger your emotions, inner philosophy, larger then life persona is the more powerful the Mana.
So Mana can do a lot of things but its more focused in what it does on the individual level then a Sorcerer though it does reinforce the bodies of anyone who uses it, being about Will it also provides a resistance to Sorcery though its not full proof depending on the power and skills of the Mana Cultivator vs that of the Aspect Sorcerer.
Also really great for living a long time.
