Now normally a company ordering private servers too shut wouldn't really be newsworthy outside of said community for that game, though when it's a kids game and you have child grooming, exchanging of child pornography among other terrible and illegal things happening on those private servers, well it becomes very newsworthy. So recently there's been a growing amount of evidence documenting said terrible activities, with certain Youtubers also making videos showing off the terrible stuff going on some of these servers and well it got to a point that Disney had to take action and send cease and desist letters to shut them down as quickly as possible.

Club penguin being a hive of scum and villainy, what is this world coming to?

Back in my day, club penguin was a wholesome place to get the top score of fastest ban.

I remember playing for a bit when it was new, but got bored with it pretty quickly. What was your fastest ban @Mark Poe?

Oh I never played that back in the day or now, I just loved watching the youtube videos of people going for their ban speed run...

I wonder if this push Disney into nuking all the Club Penguin private servers, and others like Toontown.

that's complicated, because there's a court ruling that protects you from copyright suits for modifying "abandonware" like that, as long as you aren't making money off it. Disney would have to either try to get that overturned, or maybe reopen their own servers to make the point moot.
