In two categories.

One. Versus eachother. Ten tanks vs Ten tanks Separated by 5 KM in a varied forest environment

Two. Which was the better tank for it's role in WW2

Might as well give it a shot.

Firefly>Challenger.

Better hull ergonomics (Turret is a piece of shit though), superior external mantlet, a more reliable and easier to maintain chassis, and a hull which is optimsed for allied transportation.

The challenger is a british tank (read, garbage) with a big fucking gun on it, the firefly is a Sherman (not amazing, but a damned well nice tank) with a big fucking gun on it.

The Tank, Cruiser, Challenger (A30) was a British tank of World War II. It mounted the QF 17-pounderanti-tank gun on a chassis derived from the Cromwell tank to add anti-tank firepower to the cruiser tankunits. The design compromises made in fitting the large gun onto the Cromwell chassis resulted in a tank with a powerful weapon and reduced armour. The extemporised 17-pounder Sherman Firefly conversion of the US-supplied Sherman was easier to produce and, with delays in production, only 200 Challengers were built. The Challenger was able to keep up with the fast Cromwell tank and was used with them.
I think that pretty definitively shows who wins.

The Challenger is faster, but with only 4 inches of armor max in places while the Sherman can have 7, makes it serve more of the tank destroyer role in combination rather than trying to beat enemy armor straight on.

there's also the question of the head on fight.

They carry the exact same gun. If this is happening on a perfectly flat plain, whoever shoots first, wins. That would still be the Fireflies. At long range it is possible for shots to glance off the Shermans while Challengers can't resist any of that for shit.

it's in a varied forest environment.

it's in a varied forest environment.
Unfortunately, this means whatever speed advantage the Challenger has is removed, and then the fact that for all the Sherman is poked at for being a tall tank easy to see easy to hit the Challenger is even larger in all dimensions than that. :(

Sherman stomps.
