Bluepencil's Weekly Free Art Requests folder

Sorry for being out of contact. :( My PC borked, had to replace motherboard and PSU.

For now...

@t-dugong , I see you've replaced your avatar. Apologies for being so slow.

But since you don't show up in the Carbonite Cafe, have a face avatar in that style anyway?

He is not good enough for mah waifu.

More seriously, it's more hilarious to me to visualize Homura being wooed by this creature who hangs about the Tree of Pain constantly bringing inappropriate gifts.

Minibolo is fine. I'm going to have to mess around with the PA/L design because forward bending human legs simply are not designed for tall 15-meter leaps. Large carry load, high mobility or humaniform design. Pick two. :p

Seriously though, we can talk about this for hours. I love shit like this too.

Oh alright bro i understand.

MORE IDEAS FOR YOU @bluepencil! This time a mix of settings:

This is the second largest blue-water military vessel class on the planet (only second to the Union of North American States's Aubrey Wray Fitch class of super carriers), and for good reason. While the vast majority of it's armaments is built around it's immense air fleet of 100 aircraft (be VTOLs, helicopters of various types, conventional carrier aircraft of various shapes and sizes), it also has a highly effective armament as well. It is 350 meters long with a beam of 50 meters at the waterline with a draft of 15 meters and masses 150,000 metric tons. With it's fusion-cell powerplant, it can easily achieve 35 knots without problems thanks to it's water jet propulsion. The class is notorious for starting to have problems at speeds greater than 40 knots however.

The main armament of the Orion Smalls class is it's massive 100 aircraft air fleet, capable of doing numerous jobs including invasion support. However, this isn't the only offensive and defensive armament that is available to the Orion Smalls class of carrier. The Orion Smalls comes equipped with eight 152mm dual purpose automatics in four twin-gun turrets (utilizing Electro-Thermal Chemical Triple Coaxial Plasma Igniter (or ETC-TCPI for short) propellant for the rounds, each complete round is 65 kilograms each) situated on each corner of the flight deck, eight 150mm 75kw pulse laser cannons in CIWS mounts (capable of taking out aircraft and missiles from the Anno Domini era outright the moment they pop over the horizon) with two covering each quadrant, four 60mm automatic coilguns in CIWS mounts (also more than capable of taking out aircraft and missiles from the Anno Domini era outright the moment they pop over the horizon) with each mount covering a quadrant, four 12-tube self-reloading multi-role missile launchers (missile caliber 305mm, acts like a fusion between the ADATS missile and the ESSM, capable of attacking aircraft and surface vessels) in a similar arrangement to the twin-gun turrets, four 762mm cruise missile launchers in a VLS system behind the 'island', and twelve SeaRAM style launchers to round out the 'secondary' armament. It also has an extensive suite of sensors and countermeasures which include a hybrid LIDAR/Radar/Quantum Radar set, an ECM system designed to disrupt quantum radar, an ECM system designed to disrupt regular radar, and numerous countermeasures and decoys.

The main aircraft of the Orion Smalls class (and much of the SolForce Blue Navy fleet) is the Multi-Role Fighter 05 (MRF-05 for short), an aircraft that can haul over 1,500 kilograms internally and capable of adding another 2,000 externally. While it does have stealth features (which makes 'traditional' Radars useless against it, but it doesn't fully counter Quantum Radar), it doesn't rely on them due to the environment and the fact that it can achieve Mach 2 in the 'carry EVERYTHING' -as the 'full load' is affectionately called- while being able to carry enough fuel for a 1200km combat radius. The hull of the MRF-05 is capable of taking a few hits from a 50kw pulse laser cannon and conventional AHEAD-style ammunition before failing. Other aircraft includes various intermeshing rotor helicopters, coaxial rotor helicopters, E-2 Hawkeye style AWACS aircraft, and heavier attack and interceptor aircraft.

It has a crew of ~3,000 sailors, technicians, aviators, and officers.
The Gemini class of 'light' space strike fighters is the oldest strikecraft design of any arsenal, starting work in the early 220s NWE (New World Era). While the class had underwent numerous upgrades and configurations, it is still one of the best space strike fighters out there. Designed to fit in a hanger bay 15 meters long by 30 meters wide by 10 meters high, it an average strikecraft in terms of size. The LSSF-01G is the latest of this long line of light strikecraft. The design is heavily influenced by old Anno Domini fiction -particularly Babylon 5, Space: Above and Beyond, and Homeworld- and set the tone for later SolForce strikecraft designs (athletically, it's heavily reminiscent of the Thunderbolt class Starfury and the Hiigaran Interceptor, but with a chin and tail turret ala the Hammerhead), but doesn't detract from it's capabilities.

The Gemini class is manned by two pilots and assisted with a Virtual General Intelligence (or, basically, a very capable 'expert system') who sit in an armored cockpit in the center of the forward section of the strikecraft. This cockpit can be ejected like a life pod if needed. The cockpit is also where the primary computer systems are located.

Gemini class light strike fighters utilize folding outriggers that are fitted with powerful fusion thrusters with RCS units attached to them, allowing the strikecraft to sustain maneuvers of 5 Gs easily. However, this configuration is also detrimental to it's deployment capabilities, as any planet or moon with an atmosphere thicker than Mars and anything close to Earth-grade gravity will turn this highly maneuverable machine into a literal falling brick as it has bork-all for aerodynamics.

The Gemini class is well armed with a turreted 50mm pulse electron laser cannon on a chin mount, a rear 50mm pulse electron laser cannon in a rear turret mount, a 50mm coilgun in a spinal mount, a dozen outrigger hardpoints for various seeker weapons, and three missile bays capable of holding 6 missiles each.

These weapons are connected to the Gemini's sensor suite, which consists of a hybrid LIDAR/Radar/Quantum Radar main set and numerous LIDAR and Radar backup sets.

For defense, it relies on armor and various countermeasures. The armor is a composite with an ablative outer layer that is capable of taking a few hits from point defense coilgun and laser fire, but not indefinitely. Point defense particle weapons, on the other hand, are far more deadly to the Gemini's armor and can only take one full hit before becoming vulnerable. ECM and ECCM are standard holographic (to blur the Gemini's infrared and ultra-violet signature), various radar jammers (including something capable of jamming quantum radar), and various counter-jamming systems.

It should be noted that all strikecraft and shuttles stay within a 100 megameter (100,000km or ~1/3 of a light second) radius and have an endurance of about an hour at that range.
The General Orion class of snowships are some of the largest that humanity has ever made. The hull is 330 meters long, 75 meters wide, and 50 meters tall, these behemoths go across the frozen landscape of Post-Cataclysm Earth with ease. While not incredibly fast, they are quite capable of hauling and supporting brigade sized military formations with 32 light aircraft and 32 heavy aircraft (usually consisting of two squadrons of light multi-role fighters, a bomber squadron, and a gunship squadron) for long periods of time.

Utilizing specialized caterpillar propulsion and a hydrogen/hydrogen fusion powerplant, this monstrous machine can go at a sedate 20km/h across the great frozen wastes of Earth. Basically picture Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak's carriers and you get a general idea on what a General Orion and it's siblings are, just designed for a deadly frozen wasteland instead of an endless death-desert. It's range is only limited by the nano-fabricator feedstock and food supplies.

For armament, the General Orion has four twin-gun 127mm coilguns, four 120mm high powered electron pulse lasers in CIWS mounts, four 20-tube 254mm AA/AG launchers, a 40-cell VLS system, and an 812mm VLS cruise missile launcher with the ability to manufacture ammunition for most of the weapons on-station thanks to it's nano-fabricators. It heavily relies on various escorts (including smaller 'carrier' snowships and various 'snow cruisers' and what not) and it's air wing for most of it's offensive capabilities.

The General Orion has some of the most powerful sensors on Earth, and is incredibly well protected thanks to it's thick (1 meter thick) composite armor (consisting of alternating layers of ablative alloys, various nanotubes, more standard alloys, and advanced electro-reactive armor), energy dampener fields (which only dampen lasers and particle weapons), and an extensive suite of physical and electronic countermeasures.

It has a crew of 396 personnel and an attached brigade.
This is the 'city' of the 'Children of a Frozen Earth', and it shows. It takes the arcology concept and puts it into a biodome. It is well defended with lots of turret emplacements (most modern Citadel Arcologies utilize a mix of missile and energy weapons for defense, although coilguns and ETC-TCPI cannon are used as well for older Citadel Arcologies or less technologically capable factions) and has massive doors at the 'surface' level (which is basically the top of the incredibly hard snow and ice) which act like airlocks for the Citadel Arcology. For the most part, traffic between Citadel Arcologies are tracked vehicles be modern snowships or older 'land trains'... although traditional trains (usually monorails of some kind) do exist although rarely outside of the arcologies.

Inside these arcologies is immense amounts of public transportation of various forms, usually internal monorails of the conventional and suspended type. Millions calls these locales home and most of them have a pragmatic 'efficient but pleasing' atheistic to them.

If he's complaining about this, seriously… I mean, this is something you don't usually do if IU understand correctly, so it will be rare.

Well there's reasons I'm a digital artist. :) Clean lines, accurate colors.

I could keep trying out real media for a while though. It's actually been years since I used a real pen.

Planetbase is basically Banished, but in space... so I wouldn't be surprised.

Well, sorry @bluepencil, I've got more ideas that I'm giving you. :) Hope your situation improves when you get this...

SolForce is one of the more interesting factions in the New World Era, as the vast majority of it's equipment is specifically designed to be fighting in numerous (realistic) environs across Sol and are as modular as possible. This has allowed SolForce to manufacture as much equipment as possible while making the equipment able to be fitted for any environment it can realistically encounter.

The MBT-01A9 'General Williams' is one of the most successful examples of this mentality.

The MBT-01 hull is one of the most prolific within SolForce, with the hull being used for heavy howitzers (utilizing a 203mm ETC-TCPI howitzer), Mid-Range MLRS systems (firing 320mm rockets), heavy SAM launchers, heavy engineering vehicles, self-propelled ABM, among others. The main use of the hull is for SolForce's main battle tank design.

The first -and so far only- MBT with a coilgun instead of a high-velocity ETC-TCPI cannon, it utilizes a stabilized coilgun (65mm) that can fire a 25kg Iridium cored APFS round at 2km/s (or produces 50MJ of kinetic energy on target) as it's main armament. It's coaxial weapon is a 15.5mm machinegun utilizing ETC-TCPI propellants instead of traditional propellants. The top of the tank has two Laser Anti-Missile System (LAMS) units (a mix of Battletech's LAMS and the more advanced APDS, can target incoming light artillery, rocket, and missile rounds within a kilometer of the attached vehicle) and a RWS mount capable of utilizing the 15.5mm HMG or a 45mm AGL. It also has 4 turret mounted 12-tube 60mm countermeasure launchers and four hull mounted 10-tube 60mm countermeasure launchers and only the turret mounted countermeasures can be rearmed in combat. The armor is modular, but the most common is a composite of mango-ceramics, polysilicates, polyalloys, iridium-osmium alloy, carbon nanotubes, and electro-dispersion/reactive hybrid armor.

All armaments are fully stabilized and connected to a sophisticated sensor and VGI suite. It has a crew of four (driver, commander, EWar operator, and gunner) and the turret is completely automated. It can hold up to 120 rounds of coilgun rounds, 2,000 rounds of coaxial 15.5mm ammo, and up to 4,000 rounds of RWS 15.5mm or 1,000 rounds of 45mm grenades.

The tank can acquire, target, and destroy an enemy up to 2km. Powering this vehicle is a powerful fusion cell powerplant and an electric drive train that is capable of moving this vehicle up to 90km/h (or about 56mph) on it's wide tracks and using a torsion bar suspension. Has deep-warding capability, although it isn't always recommended. Not bad for something massing 65 tons.
The D series of destroyers are SolForce's smallest offensive class in it's blue-water inventory, and the D4 sub-series ain't no exception to this. Designed for multi-role work, the D4s have a wide and varied arsenal at their disposal. In addition to this arsenal, they are powered by a fusion cell powerplant and utilize jet propulsion, allowing the vessel to achieve a top speed of 40 knots. Is similar in dimensions as the Zumwalt class destroyers but with a 18,000 metric ton displacement. It's sensors and electronic warfare are similar to the Orion Smalls class of super carriers.

The main armament consists of two twin-gun 127mm ETC-TCPI naval cannon (with 500 rounds per gun, one forward, one aft) that can fire 60 rounds a minute, two 54-cell 254mm coilgun-launch VLS banks (one fore, one aft) with quad-pack capability and under deck reload capacity, two 8-cell 254mm coilgun-launch VLS banks (one port, one starboard) with quad-pack capability and under deck reload capacity, and one 8-cell 508mm coilgun-launch VLS bank (forward). The defensive armament consists of four seaRAM launchers and four 150mm pulse lasers in CIWS mounts. It also has numerous surface and subsurface countermeasures with numerous decoys and ECM for countermeasures. The ship is armored with 250mm of composite armor in the hull, 150mm of composite armor on the deck, 100mm of composite armor on the turrets, and 75mm of composite armor on the upper works. It also has a mid-deck helipad with an elevator for it's three intermesh rotor helicopters.

Has a crew of 150 personnel.
This armor is an interesting design as it has elements of Fallout's Combat Armor and the armor that the Colonial Marines utilize. The design has elements of knight armor in that it isn't just the shoulders that do the majority of the work on hauling that weight, but much of the upper body, reducing immense amounts of fatigue that soldiers have noted before combat armor of all types were being phased out before the Great War (and is part of the reason that power armor was created in the first place). This change in design philosophy of armor is thanks to the knowledge that several medieval and later era armorers and knights had given the engineers and designers that the Starship Command had in it's employ insights to maximize infantry armor while retaining as much maneuverability as possible.

The armor is designed to maximize resistance to energy, radiological, and kinetic weapons. As such various plates of composite armor is spread across vital areas and limbs, with armored knee pads to help ensure that no one gets knee capped. This composite armor is built around pre-war and Enclave science and alien materials, giving it immense protection for it's weight. The back of the armor has a series of mounts designed for attachments of various types, mostly various lamps and sensors and later forcefield generators. The lamps are powered by a fusion cell, while the forcefield generators would be powered by alien batteries. Backpacks are widely available with this as well.

The armor -with the proper helmet- can be NBC proof and able to save lives during decompression as it can hold 15 minutes of air standard.
The tank is something akin to a Chaffee and a Sheridan having kids. Armed with an HE/HEAT/Beehive throwing 105mm howitzer with a coaxial 76mm plasma cannon and gattling laser, it is a fast machine designed for infantry support and recon. The roof-mounted armament consists of either a pentile mount automatic laser rifle or a (crude in our terms) automatic laser rifle on an RWS mount. Comparable to a Chaffee in terms of speed. The powerplant is a fusion reactor (or specifically the 'Tank Fusion Reactor, Light Variant Model 3' (or TFR/LV3) reactor). It has a crew of four (a driver, a gunner, a loader, and a commander) and is protected by a thin (for a tank) layering of T-51 series composite armor, which is capable of withstanding few anti-tank laser cannon or 40mm gauss rifle (more or less basically an ATG version of the 2mm EC gauss rifles) shots.

@Mr Wumbo , Imma color this in later.

I truly forgot how much of a pain in the ass it is to get clean lines even from simple sketches. Using ink and pencils together was a personal taboo.

In the past I would have to do everything pencils, then put that into a lightbox and trace over them in a fresh sheet win a pen. And then scan it. And then still fix things with an eraser and pixel brush.

And what is most annoying about working with physical media is not the touch of randomness in a stroke or running out of ink or how you can't take back any mistakes. It's instead of inside Paint Tool Sai is that after making some lines, I put down the pencil and go back to change the youtube video I'm listening, and then I turn back and WTF where did I put that thing? I was holding on it a second ago! Did it roll down? Am I sitting on it?

If it's not the pen, it's the erasers. This is why I have at least three erasers at any one time, dammit all. I keep losing track of things as soon as I put them down. I mean, there's blindness, and there's not being able to find shit until the moment I actually decide to stop looking.

Still, there's a sense of liveliness that physical art that's just missing from crisper digital art, you know? It may be cruder and less accurate, but somehow we can all just tell the difference between real and simulated drawing tools.

How much info do you need?

I need something to fill out.:)
As much as you can give. :) Specificity is an ally.

@Aaron Fox ,
(ominously) You're next.

Sorry about idea-dumping on you @bluepencil, but I was never allowed to draw what I have in my head when I was young. :(

Too many ideas floating around in my hyper-active imagination...

This is for an XCOM (reboot)/MLP fic that I have been working on again recently. Due to quite literal magic (thanks to the Crystal Heart and another magical artifact called 'the Crystal Bells of Faust') and a rather unique reaction to MELD and EXALT's beyond-mad scientist screwing with the main character's genes, the main character (something of an SI, but not) is transformed into a rather unique fusion of alien, local species, and human. He has elements of an anthropomorphic (MLP:FiM style) dragon and alicorn (55% animal, 45% human in the anthro scale) with two dragon horns, the elements of the size and strength of a muton, has four arms and incredibly powerful psionics like an Ethereal (powerful enough to create solid psionic constructs), his skin is short fur on top of scales, has an MLP:FiM/traditional Chinese Kirin mane and split horns, and two gargoyle/dragon wings with a dragon tail. He has a noticeable-but-not-over-the-top muscled physic.

He is wearing a Prussian Dunkelblau dress uniform, modified for his body, with his left breast loaded with numerous medals including the Congressional Medal of Honor, the Victoria Cross, the Mannerheim Cross, the Cross of Honor for Valor (replacement of the Iron Cross), the Israeli Medal of Valor, Hero of the Russian Federation, and the War Order of Virtuti Militari, all earned in his several year service with XCOM during the Ethereal War. He carries a C96 style laser pistol (the XCOM Emergency Laser Pistol Upgrade Mark 1, or more commonly known as the 'Laser Pistol 2') in a C96 style holster on his belt.
A heavier version of the PA(L) armor that showed up earlier in this thread, it utilizes the same concept as the PA(L) but has much more armor. The armor covers more of the soldier this time around, and has no 'head' like most power-armor concepts... a rare thing in fiction. If you want to see some examples, I'll show 6-Commando's UNA 1st and 2nd Gen power armor (also, please note that I'm giving you some examples of 'headless power armor', not asking you to reproduce them in my setting):
d912fzt-ddc84dda-e9c5-483f-8060-43f497c0e2f4.jpg

Basically, no vulnerable head, but heavily reliant on sensors and things like drones. Unlike the Regulator 1 (which is similar to the idea in my head), it is easily mass produced and modular. They are able to utilize low-end heavy weapons as easily as small arms. It adds a not-so-insignificant increase in height due to the various systems and getting powerful enough molymers to move the thing. The armor layout is similar to the PA(L) with the addition of a liquid armor layer to maximize protection for less weight. It masses 650 kilos by itself, and can carry itself and 325 kilos of equipment. It can achieve speeds similar to the PA(L), but with the added weight requiring things like inertia to be taken into account. The operator's hands are not going to be in the line of fire, however, as like the PA(L) the hands you see are mechanical and manipulated within the armor. This armor can achieve similar ranges of motion as a human being, and it can be used in the prone/crawling position.

If you have to show them with equipment, show them with an HMG (15.5mm), microgun (6mm), or what is effectively a multi-laser/laser machinegun with an ammo/power backpack and a sensor/light module on each shoulder.
This is a somewhat crude (compared to actual powered armor) precursor to 'modern' power armor, first deployed in the second half of the 21st century (also known as 'the Last Century of Anno Domini'). It a very light system -barely breaking 150 kilos by itself and only capable of carrying itself and 50 kilos of equipment- and is mostly armored with layers of bullet and shrapnel resistant material with rifle-resistant plates for vital areas and pistol-resistant plates for extremities. The skeleton itself is hidden underneath the armor, minimizing damage by shrapnel and errant bullets. It is a very '20 minutes into the future' armor all considering.
The Chinese answer to the US powered exoskeleton. Only able to carry itself and only weighs 175 kilos (most of the added weight went into the battery). Armored similarly to the US powered exoskeleton.
The basic idea of a 'Snowsuit' is fusing a literal space suit with a powered exoskeleton. 200 kilos of heat management, battery, independent air supply, air filtration, communications equipment, sensors, loco-motors, and insulation, it is capable of keeping a human alive in all but the worst conditions in the frozen wastelands of Earth. Due to the virtues of the environment it was designed in, it also can be used in all but the worst NBC contaminated areas. Won't stand a chance against 'modern' weapons in the setting however.
For an alternate timeline that I've been working on, this is an intermesh rotor design that had evolved from the Fl-282 'Hummingbird' helicopter (which was developed and utilized earlier in this timeline).

(the Fl-282 V23 being tested by US pilots after WW2 OTL, the Fl-282 is the world's first serial produced combat helicopter that was used in combat in history)

It has a two person crew in a setup similar to the AH-56 Cheyenne attack helicopter, with the gunner in front in a rotating bustle (later models took the original system out and used a hybrid between an upgraded version of the bustle and a HUD based tracking system) and the pilot behind the gunner. The cockpit has a wide, minimally obstructed view of the forward 210 degree arc and is connected to a variety of sensors which the design has been given over the years (originally it only had eyesight and the forward sensor turret, which had early IR and NV systems but with a smaller 150 degree view arc, but this would be upgraded with better versions as time goes on). It is powered by a turbojet engine like the AH-1 'Cobra' helicopters. The difference between the AH-1 Cobra and this helicopter is the intermeshing rotors and it's armament. The main cannon of this aircraft is a 30mm autocannon, which is similar in use as the Apache's 30mm cannon with a similar firing arc. The winglets have six hardpoints for 10-tube 10cm rocket pods, 6-tube 15cm rocket pods, 4-tube 28cm rocket pods, 4-tube ATGM launchers (usually armed with a TOW/Spike ER hybrid with the more modern variants), and later short-range IR AAMs for anti-helicopter and limited self-defense work. The original variant was basically the AH-1 of the timeline, with more modern variants adding sensor modules on the tip of the intermeshing rotors. While it isn't well known for it's speed (although it is similar in the AH-1 in terms of speed), it is well known for it's maneuverability and stability, capable of flying in all but the worst of weather.

When the non-crash program attack helicopters came into production (which resembled the AH-56 Cheyenne), it wasn't uncommon for mixed units having the intermesh attack helicopter be escorts or support for the rigid rotor compound attack helicopter during combat operations, as the intermesh rotor helicopter was able to maneuver into places where the compound attack helicopter couldn't.
