Like Bill Clinton getting an assassination request on Osama Bin Laden (with a report about what he and his buddies have been doing, one story has it shortly after Philippine Airlines 434 in 1994) and he denied it because 'it wasn't the Cold War anymore'... or something to that effect.Granted the 90's were fun but we're still feeling the aftereffects today.
Biden is leaning in on a run for the White House. There are reasons. While he is no stranger to the political rough-and-tumble, evidenced by his days as chairman of powerful U.S. Senate committees, it is already being noted that Biden's penchant for reaching across political aisles and kind words for adversaries will be a "challenge" in the 2019-20 political arena. Biden's political skills developed over a half-century, we are to suppose, are now a detriment.
During his early days in the senate, Democrat Biden developed an initial dislike for N.C.'s GOP Senator Jesse Helms. After gaining some insights that, for Biden, deeply humanized the Tarheel arch-conservative, Biden formed a friendship with Helms. They rarely found philosophical agreement, but managed to put country first, at times, in forging foreign policy legislation over a quarter-century.
Describing his early experiences with Jesse Helms in a May 2015 address at Yale, Biden imparted advice that has reflected in his career: "Build real relationships — even with people whom you vehemently disagree. You'll not only be happier. You will be more successful."
Joe Biden doesn't represent the only examples of decency in a current environment that leaves us hungering for more. His late colleague, GOP Senator John McCain, was famous for his appeals to political adversaries. McCain's defense of presidential opponent Barack Obama in the twilight of 2008's campaign was courageous.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the late Justice Antonin Scalia rarely concurred on major issues decided by America's highest court, but maintained a close personal friendship over three decades. "We were best buddies," Ginsburg once noted. They often shared public forums where they would laugh and tease about their differences. Horrors, RBG, watch out for the Cynthia Nixon crowd!
2020 presidential hopefuls should learn from, rather than criticize, Biden's latest "gaffe." We already have the "King of Coarse" in the White House; why would we want a pale Democratic imitation?
That's a perfectly valid view point, not sure I agree with it fully but I understand. I do think that CNN and the corporate media are selling their souls by fiat-endorsing Trump by being this obsessive over small gaffes while we have a President of the United States who imprisons children and openly praises totalitarian dictatorships...I don't think Biden is the right choice for this election. He's offering what Obama and Hillary did and, perhaps more importantly, isn't as committed to many of the Sanders derived "progressive" ideals that are characterising the democratic candidates this election. And, by a wider margin than most, he has actions and positions readily available to criticsce.
And people want to keep bringing up and obsessing over some of the most milquetoast, boring politicians while we have what is essentially a dictator. In the fucking White House. Acting like a moron child. Literally.I cannot stand the infighting in Democratic Party.
That's the problem with the 2-party system. There are many more political orientations in the US than just Democrat or Republican, but leaving one of the 2 parties and making your own party is a political suicide. So instead of splitting away, the various platforms have to fight it out inside the party - which weakens the whole party.I cannot stand the infighting in Democratic Party.
It's not even political suicide. Running 3rd party means the party the least like what you want is the one that wins. That's the problem with the 2-party system. Not quite, it depends on which party you're looking at. The GOP forces everyone to march in lock-step no matter what while the Dems generally want some debate within it's factions and have an easier time ejecting problematic factions like what happened with the Dixiecrats back in the '60s.That's the problem with the 2-party system. The Two-Party system has been set up by Active Measures to facilitate its control over the US because it hates your freedom. Not quite, it depends on which party you're looking at. Also, a multi-party system isn't as useful as you think given what we've seen in other nations and the fact that in the US all but one third party (the Progressives) were some level of batshit crazy bar none.
What?Dems need to be like the Republicans and fall in line not in love.
The Republicans have the reputation of obeying their leadership nicely and to have a nice propension to avoid infighting, as they are pretty much about sticking to a hierarchical and a bit authoritarian society (aren't they all about forcing down what people should or should not do with consenting adults and reinforcing the powerful?). From an outside point of view, the Republican Party is about obeying and not questioning the rich and powerful who then micromanage your life. What?
No, we've seen where that goes, and right now it ain't pretty. The GOP couldn't eject the TEAPers even if they wanted to because of how they're set up.Dems need to be like the Republicans and fall in line not in love.
Protesting and running a shadow campaign behind the scenes against Trump looks like. What has Biden even been doing for 2 years?
... ex Clinton people are criticizing him?
That 2016 will be endlessly re-litigated...... ex Clinton people are criticizing him?

Like what wouldn't have happened? Its not like that wouldn't have happened if Biden or Harris or... literally anyone else ran.
